What do you guys think would be the best way to connect my sub subwoofer to my system. The following are the speakers and receiver I have to work with.

Mains = Monitor 10B’s, set to large
Center = CSi40, set to small
Rears = FXi30, set to small
Sub = PSW404
Receiver = Yamaha HTR-5250

Currently I have the sub hooked up to the receiver with a single shielded RCA cable running from the sub out of the receiver to the LFE in on the sub with the sub crossover frequency set to the max. (180Hz). It sounds fine but I keep hearing / reading the sub should be connected to the left and right main line out’s from the receiver to the two line ins on the sub.
Thanks!

My 404 is connected to the L/R pre outs of my reciever. I have not heard much difference from when it was connected to the SUB out of the reciever. If you do the latter, just make sure that you go into the unfiltered input of the 404 since the sub out of reciever is already filtered.

Remember one other thing - if you use any output other than the sub out (LFE) jack, you must set speaker set up as Subwoofer = No (or Off) otherwise you'll lose the LFE signal. If you use the Sub Out/LFE jack the setting is Subwoofer = Yes (On).
