Recently purchased new 6.5" component speakers. Chose not to use the small guage wire that came with unit to wire speakers and tweeters to crossovers. Left the few inches of wire (with connects) leading into the tweeters.

Lost installation diagram so I want to be sure of what wire is + and - to insure proper phasing of the tweeters? The tweeters have a black/white and black wire for one and a grey/white and black to the other.

Is it common practice to remove the smaller wires to the tweeters and solder lower guage wire to the tweeters or am I into overkill?

Barryboy,
The wire that has a white stripe on it is the positive wire.
I would not recommend replacing the original wire due to the potential to damaging the terminals. Plus by trying to use a larger
gauge wire there is more of a chance for the wire to come into contact with the magnet assembly and therefore can cause a short circuit. The Voltage and Current required to drive tweeters
is very minimal so the smaller gauge wire is sufficient for this application. I would be more concerned about the quality of the wire.

Happy Wiring
