Nice looking sub for my 500w PE

These are not available yet but I bet it will go good with my 500w PE amp. Any opinions? They don't have the specs yet but they will probably be sufficient for 50/50 ht/2ch.

The AAA12 should be a winner. Huge Xmax and a clean XBL2 motor. Great build and sound quality from all accounts. The AA drivers are also efficient so 500w should be more than enough.

I forget what Adire's pricings are, but you should check out their subs. I believe they own the XBL^2 technology, so might as well go to the source.

Adire (Dan Wiggins and David Hyre) own the XBL2 patent but they have licensed it to Ascendant. Ascendant does their own engineering and their subs are currently cheaper. Adire will catch up eventually but they have very few subs available right now because they are moving production to their own Chilean factory.

I have a couple of XBL2 drivers and they are definitely different. Huge throw and they have a unique clean sound, it's hard to describe.

Whatever happened to that Adire Parthenon? Seemed like a really cool idea (hard to sell, but a nice engineering feat), but haven't seen a buzz about it since CES 2004.

The Parthenon is custom order, you need to pony up $1000 to talk to the engineers and the total cost is between 5-8 grand.

I think it was a way of showcasing their engineering abilities and to demostrate the scalability of the XBL2 motor tech.

Cool. Dan seems like a really nice guy. They didn't by any chance tell you about some new sub technology they are working on did they?

Did you get a chance to listen to any of the stuff on display like the new MT Extremis kits?

No, we didn't discuss any new technology. The only thing playing was a set of two-way speaks, which sounded pretty nice.

I was just curious, I have heard they have something up their sleeve. The two ways you heard were the KIT61s. The Extremis with an Usher tweeter. I'm glad to hear you thought they sounded good because I am using the Extremis in my DIY speakers (but I think our design is better that what they had on display ;)).
