Is POLK going to add a large bookshelf speaker similar to the
RT55i in the next generation RTi series

I am just hoping, begging and pleading that the good folks at Polk
will do this....

IF I recall..Polk had no intention of doing another similar RT55i speaker. Something about they didnt sell very many of them compaired to others in the line...+ they have the Lsi9

Personaly I think its Poop...I love my RT55i

My #1 dissapointment is that I did not spring for the 55's when I chose my 35's.

The 55i is the best of that line that I've heard, granted the only others I've heard have been the 800i and 35i. The thing is, though, is that it's not even close, imo.

there isn't much difference between the RT55i and the RT800i's right? large bookshelf VS floorstanding speakers. same drivers.. same crossovers? similar sound?

I'm still impressed how low the 800i's go. yeah not as low as a true subwoofer. but lower than i ever thought.

Similar BUT different. Much cleaner mid-bass and bass. A much more "refined" sound (for lack of a better word). I demoed them side by side and there was significant differece IMO. I bought the RT55is.

The closest Polk may come is the Monitor 40 which like the LSi9 has the two 5¼" drivers. I doubt if we will ever see another "bookshelf" with two 6½" drivers. It would be interesting to see how well the Monitor 40 has done (in terms of sales). I know the LSI9 has been pretty successful, but if this design didn't sell well in the Monitor line, we probably will not see one of these in the RT lineup.

how about dumping the Rti4 in favor of a bookshelf using
two 5 1/4 drivers as a two way system and keeping the Rti6
with its one 6.5 driver.. OR having one bookshelf with one 6.5
driver and a 5.25 midrange driver...
