We'll here are a few random thoughts and first impressions of the Bel Canto Designs DAC2:
Natural: Voices, especially the ladies, seem significantly more natural. The biggest difference I noticed was on the Allison Krauss/Union Station live album. She went from slightly nasal to smooth and rounded. It seems like it could really reveal whether or not someone is getting layering help or actually has truly full voice.
Width & Imaging: The wider soundstage was pretty evident on most of my CD's I listened to last night. A few of the CD's I tried that had always seemed confined opened up quite a bit. Other things that never seemed to have good SDA action were suddenly appearing to have it. Imaging was noticeably better on several CD's, especially the the dobro (sp) on the Union Station live CD.
Clarity: Big gains here too. A threw in a trance CD I have. WOW! It came alive in a big way. Better imaging of course, but there was this edge to the all the electronic music and effects. Big SDA improvement. It was so much more "club-like."
I guess that's it for now. I don't think this unit had much use as according to the reviews it takes few days of burn-in for the sound to balance. It's bass-heavy right now. Enough so that I killed the SVS.
