PC Use On HDTV

Is anyone using their HDTV as a PC monitor? If so, what has your experience been?

I've got a LG RU44SZ80L 44IN. LCD Projection TV that I'm using as a monitor for my HP laptop that has a DB15 RGB output, and the quality is "ok" - it's not what I had expected though. I'm just using a basic RGB cable to connect directly to the db15 RGB input on my TV.

What type of input/output are you using? What kind of cable? How is the picture quality?

I use my 50" DLP HDTV as a computer monitor. Like you I don't think the VGA (RGB) input is all that good for the desktop.

My DLP TV is very sharp using DVI output from my graphics card. As an example of how much I use the TV as a computer monitor, I just replaced the lamp after 13 months and the old lamp had 5805 hours. The old lamp was not burned out. just getting slightly dim.

I have my computer connecte to a Toshiba 42" RPHDTV (42H83). Using an ATI All In Wonder 9600XT128 with the component video dongle. I have it set for 720p and my desktop set to 1152x648 to cut down on over-scan. Using large fonts makes things easier to read. I mainly use the computer to browse the internet, so having it display on my TV is convenient.

I also have the S-Video and analog audio from my Time Warner cable box hooked into my computer to record TV once in a while, and occasionally I watch TV in a small window while on the internet.
