This picture was posted on here before, but I can't find the thread anymore.

http://www.crapville.com/funnypics/pics/surroundsound.jpg

It was recently posted by someone on another forum I frequent (related to Ford Rangers, not audio), and everyone thinks it's a stupid big setup, and one guy's comment was "dont see a sub.............."

I'm going to try to explain in brief what the picture shows, but I'm not that knowledgable about horns and the like. Any help is appreciated :)

That big circular object will a bazillion horns HAS to be a subwoofer...

Bigger woofer (single) is a woofer, medium size horn is the midrange, and the smaller horn is the tweeter...

Thats my take...

Looks like Avantgarde horns (sub in the center) with TEAC gear.

The stack in the center looks like 6 bass horns, probably 12 woofers.

There is nothing Teac in that picture.

Noah, don't even bother trying to explain it to the peanut gallery. If they don't know world-class when they see, F em.

Now, if it was a Mercedes or Rolls Royce forum, sure. I doubt many people that are driving Ford Rangers could even fathom such a system.

Cheers,
Russ

Yeah, what good would it do to explain the gear?! ;)

Ok, so how can you NOT see the sub? I can see a wall of silver horns that is most defintly the sub. Infact, I think that enclosure is a folded horn design. If executed right, it's fairly efficient and one of the lowest reaching enclosures you can find.

Wouldn't that setup cost as much as most of us make in a lifetime?

Now, a ford ranger? I would definitely laugh at that.

The big thing in the middle is the sub, duh. We used to have one simmilar to it at a club I used to work at.

I'd love to hear a system like that. :)

I know it'll take a lot of doing to actually get them to understand it, I just hate when people are so ignorant. Here are the comments from the thread so far-

"thats nuts! Definitly more power than these ears can handle im sure!"

"dont see a sub.............."

"I thought this was gonna be about a turd or something.... " (oddly enough, posted by someone with a nick of "poop")

"LOL what is it with you and "poop" haha"

"Just reminds me of the beginning of "Back to the Future" with Marty and the huge speaker. "

*sigh*

I'll just see if the thread will die on it's own. If not, then I'll try to correct. BTW- _I_ wasn't on "crapville", I was on Ranger Power Sports. Someone just linked to this picture and was like, wow, look at this.

And, Russ, I own a Ford Ranger and I know what they are... kinda :). How will people ever learn if no one is willing to teach them?

The speakers are probably the most expensive items in the photo, I suppose.

There're 2 TEAC Esoteric A-70 monoblocks on the bottom left and right shelves....

Second from the top rack, there's a TEAC Esoteric G-0 Master Clock Generator....

The rest of the gear include the TEAC Esoteric P-01 SACD/CD transport and dual D-01 mono D/A converters (sitting over the 2 monoblocs)....

'Cause it's full of know-nothing asshats and those that do know anything are too busy having the know-nothing asshats kiss thier feet and praise the ground they walk on. Every time I post a message or ask a question, it's ignored. So I stopped wasting my time. Besides, when you ask about V8 conversion stuff or disc brake setups, you get a buncha crap about how this guy's Exploder rear end worked great and that this other guy stuffed such and such into this and that but nobody seems to answer the question. On top of that, if your truck is older than 1993, nobody seems to know a damn thing about them except the fact that they existeded and some of them don't even know that! So what's the point if all I'm doing is wasting bandwidth?

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that has a '93+. I'd like to say that I don't post much there, but I'm up to 539 posts since April :/
