A certain company that shall remain unnamed said that monstervintage was using their logo. pfft! Monstervintage was pretty much forced to remove it for awhile, but now its back!

I don't know that I agree with you, looks like they stole more than one element from the nameless company.

In this case, MC should have just requested them to change the logo IMHO.

I knew i saw that symbole somewhere else! I agree Noel should have mede them change that symbole unless MC somehow will profit from that

alot of it is a play on names and search engines.. sellers on e-bay use in the title " monster size banana plugs" or some such, its not monster brand, but they get all the search hits on monster banana's..... same deal here.. all companies arent innocent, they know people know MONster and it gets hits.. I'm not agreeing about any of the business practices either way.. But its also easy to figure out

In order for them to have "stolen" it, they would have had to known it existed. The "MV" is similar to the "M" but even a child could tell that its different, IMO.

(They did request that they stop using it, and MV complied for awhile until just recently. A certain person at the unnamed company accused them of using "slices" of their logo.)

Monster has various logos for their various divisions. Monster Vintage might be a new brand of tube amps and TT's...

They are too similar to have a realistic chance of being created independently.

Monster HTPC also deserved the shot as well since it is the same market.

Snow Monsters, Monster.com, Monsters inc... Those were just dumb.

As an example, here is the MC logo:

You've busted em! Those bastards stole it so they could sell more butterfly-collar shirts, it makes perfect sense. *

Heck, maybe the guy who designed it for them was inspired by MC. We'll never know...

I guess the only difference with that logo and the fact that there have been lawsuits in the music industry over a set of (as little as ) 3 notes is that the industries that they are aimed at are different. I think anyone can see the M is virtually the same, and probably in some right it shouldn't be (based on the trademarking guidelines), but I think some latitude has to be given based on the industries being worlds apart.

I'm sorry but that's even a little to close for me. Now I think MV's trying to push their limits. It's going to bite him in the ass!!!

Maybe its MV's way of flipping off MC. :D

So, did Isuzu "steal" from MC too???:D

jd, the Isuzu mark above has been in use from 1974 to the present. Do you think Noel Lee ever saw it? These two marks are much more similar than the MV logo, these are even the same color. Do you think your previous statement about MV would hold true in this case of Isuzu compared to MC?

Yup, you got me...

Hmm, Something named monster blank has a very similar logo to another company named monster blank.

Yet we are led to believe that on wasn't influenced at all by the other and created similar logo layouts including the initials for the product in the same "font" at the beginning of the logo. The ones for the mens and womens sections? I doubt Noel would have even batted an eye lash if that set-up was used throughout.

Your justification for this being ok is that Isuzu has a singular piece of the logo in a circle and that is were monster stole it from? And that Isuzu should go after Monster? And no, open your eyes a bit more and push away from your hatred of all things MC. The Isuzu mark has two gross elements in common. The MV one has at least 5

Man, you're getting as paranoid as Noel Lee. Chill out and open your eyes... Not one person yet has agreed with your supposition that MC shouldn't have even gone after it after seeing the "evidence"

Am I still boycotting Monster cable? Yes

Do I think that their tactics are dirty and underhanded? Yes

Do I think they are justified in this case and monster HTPC? yes

Are you becoming a little obsessed? Oh yeah.... ;)

That wasn't my point. My point is that just because two logos are similar doesn't necessarily mean they stole from each other.

If I'm the only one that doesn't think MC should have went after MV's logo, then so be it.

Its all good. :)

Cool, No problem. I just didn't quite buy MV's story after looking at the evidence. I feel that their orignal "brilliant" idea was along the lines of what faster explained and they got smacked around a bit.

It's all good, sorry for a bit of a loss of temper. My bad...

Cheers. Its a pretty interesting topic. I can see both sides of the story.
