The image is saved as id_max set-up, so I'm gonna make a safe guess that those are the subs. :)

Which pioneer are you looking at? They make great hu's. I currently have the DEH-P8MP, had the 960MP, both are/were great. What amp is that on the box?

Oof. Then I take back my smart ass comment! That thing is a hoss!

As for head units, Im partial to Alpine but am seriously considering this cool as hell Pioneer Premier P8! (http://pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4041_76829766,00.html)

I knew that amp was smooth... i almost nutted whenever i saw it gracefully mounted across the grassy plain which is that box.

argh...

You would not regret getting that one. It is awesome....maybe I'll put some pics up of it at night...it looks hot.

Well, the 2500D isnt quite a 5000 watt amp. Its probably no more than abotu 3000, still a bunch tho.

How is that P8 as far as negotiating the controls. That single knob looks like it could be kind of a pain in the ass for getting around all the controls.

umm I am still working out the bugs of the setup I have some noise I think ground or power related.

the deck I have bumping is the Kenwood

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=178&sortBy=price&productId=2561

this deck is hell gay I don't understand half of its features. My subs are not even bumping.

anyone know anything about kenwood decks!!!! so confusing.

It is surprisingly easy. Not a lot of buttons, everything is controled by that big knob. :p Left and right for foward/reverse, etc. The only thing i wish it had was seperate controls for front and rear crossovers. Would make my bi-amping a little easier.

Kenwood makes ugly head units.

yea well I know now.

anyways here is the pre view review after some chances of messing with the gain etc. First of all when I turn the gain up more then 50% amp shuts down. Battery voltage drops like mofo to low alternator cant keep up with the power demands. The speakers do hit very very clean. Its much better then my friends w7 13.5 hits loud as hell and pretty good. I got a great deal on them around 4xx for both the maxes so I am not complaining. After a few weeks it should sound better.

I need another head unit. I know now this kenwood is a pile of shit.

Pioneer is making the P9 with a Burr-Brown DAC, it looks (and should sound) awesome.

well that kenwood unit you have has 2 preouts. Front and Rear so I guess you have to hook up your sub amp to the rear preouts. Now go to your setup and make sure the rear outs are at a right level. If it was me I would have went with the Kenwood Excelon Line with 3 preouts.. front, rear and non-fading (for the subs) Check your setup and just make sure the rear channel are at a level you are comfortable with.

I'd grab a Pioneer that has a sub preout. They have great bass management control in their HU's.

those are v3 maxes.

be careful - those subs are very picky - too much shitty power and they'll go bad real quick.

i lost two on class D amps. running about the same power - 1250 - 1300 rms each.

Isn't the P9 out already? It actually two units, the main with the display, then I think an optical signal goes to a 30 band l/r eq processer or something...

Problems: when I turn on bass on rap song with hella bass the amp cuts off. I am thinking it has something to do with the battery and alternator. I am running a 0 guage stinger wiring kit with a 250amp fuse. To a dizzy block with two inputs of 4 guage power and two inputs of ground for the Orion 2500d. My gain is about less then 35%.

wtf do I need to do get more power???
will a deep cycle battery help??

my alternator is rated at 35amps idle and like 60amp full its a honda.

lmao, youre trying to draw at least 100A on a 60A alternator. that thing will be dead in a month. replace your battery AND your alternator...

dam I will get a yellow optima battery and a bigger alternator 150amps I think 70 at Idle and 150amps around 2300 rpms.

haha aren't they rated at 1000watts peak?
why are you running 1250 watts to each?

also I today I setup the gain with a voltage meter so my setting should be correct.

Yes I will be doing the big 3 soon hopefully. I also noticed my w7 13.5 was louder it was in a ported box. But this two 12s hit deep like I feel when the subwoofer hits.

this is almost too easy...
I would rather have an ID Max than a W7 any day of the week. 2 13.5w7 will def. be louder than 2 12" id maxes, but i would rather have the sound quality of the ID Max. The Maxes dont sound as good as the w6s, but theyre better than the w7 IMO. Plus an ID Max is half the price.
Please dont tell me I dont know what im talking about. i have 2 subs that handle 3x the power as a 12w7 and will still sound better at any volume level

No hard feelings. I am getting the w7 for around 400 for each. Idmax I paid were around 390 shipped for both. so if you thought I was paying retail hell no. I never pay retail!!!

400 for a 13w7 is right about the perfect price. are you sure the subs you have are maxes? you know they handle 1000 RMS, not peak right?

lol. yes they are maxes d2 actually. and I am aware of them handle 1000watts rms. they blew don't know why I set the gains correctly. I just don't know why they f....ed up. Anyways It was sent back yesterday for a return. Maybe because I was smashing on them with my 220amp alternator ohh well I have no clue. All I know is the gians were set correctly. I had the right setup going on it just blew. I was't even giving them a full 1000watts rms.

Might have been the alternator when I put it on it gave the battery more juice and the amp took it and fried the woofers somehow. Because before my amp always shut off at full volume.... ohh well W7 should put the problem to rest...

exalted512
02-12-2005, 04:42 PM
your amp probably shuts up because its running at a really low voltage. this could also increase your chance of killing the amp flat out and/or sending bad signals to the speakers and killing the speakers too...

W7's rule!

They are expensive and too popular but they still rule! :D
