Since thats a SVC, youll need to get a 2 channel amp and bridge it.

No question. (http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTX342) Awesome amp, great build quality, tons of clean power, oodles of headroom and goes for $140!!! Cant be beat.

This Kicker (http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC04KX3502) would be a good choice as well.

And of course my favorite (http://www.acaraudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_37&products_id=676) for $200. Although this is an unauthorized dealer so you wouldnt get a warranty. Its also a ton more power than the 400 rating would lead you to believe.

OK. Youve got a single, 4 ohm, single voice coil sub which means you can only run in 4 ohm mono.

You need 400 watts.

If you buy an amp that puts out 400 watts at 4 ohms, itll be a 800 watt amp cause all mono amps are 2 ohm stable. So youre paying for 800 watts and only using 400. Plus itll be a big ass amp as its an 800 watt amp.

You get a 400 watt 2 channel and youre only paying for 400 watts. Plus its a lot smaller.

Example: That 340 watt MTX is $140. A mono amp that puts out 400 watts at 4 ohms is the 801D for $260. Plus its twice the size of the 340.

You can get a mono amp but why would you want to unless you were planning to add another MM2124 in the near future.

I'd also consider your future plans for the system. If you think you might ever wanna add another sub or get a bigger sub, You might wanna get more power now so you won't need to upgrade the amp again and spend more money.

so a DVC rated 400rms sub can really take 400rms each coil at 4 ohms? wouldnt wiring a mono amp to a DVC run it at 2ohm?

otherwise i am thinking about this amp ( http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTX502 ). i may upgrade to a 15 in the future.wanting to know if i should spend more money and get the mono amp for a DVC sub when i get the 15. or will this 2chan amp and a SVC 15" sound good? will it be as loud as a DVC with a mono amp? i am definately going with the polk mm2152.

Polk DVC subs are rated per voice coil. Virtually all other subs are rated TOTAL power handling.

2 subs with 500 watts will be just as loud as 1 sub with 500 watts.

That 502 will shred the MM2154. Its putting out well over 550 RMS and would not be a good match for the 2154.

If you want 800 watts going to your sub then get the MM2154DVC now. Its the same price as the SVC. Then get this (http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTX801D) amp and voila! 1 DVC sub getting 400 watts per coil. Youre all set.

will that mono amp be too much power for my mm2124 svc?

Nope. It would put out 400 watts at a 4 ohm load which would be fine.

But then youre paying for an 800 watt amp and using 400. Plus its gonna be big.

If youre going to upgrade to a second MM2124 then this would be the perfect amp, especially at that price. If youre going to keep the single sub then go with the 342.
