you can push them with something like one of these, depending upon the impedance of the vc's you have:
hifonics goliath (http://www.maxxsonics.com/hifonics/ampsnew_maxxgol.html)
soundstream xxx (http://www.soundstream.com/sub/products_amps_XXX.html) (maybe TOO much!)
zapco c2k4kw (http://www.zapco.com/prod/comp_prods/c2k4kwFrame.htm)
a usamps ax (http://www.newusamps.com) DE class amp
to figure out impedance, stick a mulitmeter across the coils wired in series... it should be either ~3 or ~7, which is a dual 2 and dual 4 ohm sub, respectively.
EDIT: or, something kinda cool... put a 1000 watt amp on EACH VC!!!! it'd be like, damn, how do those things take that?!

Youve GOT TO BE KIDDING?!?!?
Damn dude! You need to go buy a lottery ticket! Talk about luck.
Ya know, the honorable thing to do would be call em up and inform them of the mix up.........yeah ok, never mind.
Youre going to need a TON of power to work those things right. You may want to consider selling one of them and going with a single.
Youre gonna pay a pretty penny for 4000 watts in amps. The MTX 1501D was on sell for a great price but theyve since been taken off of SoundDomain's site.
If they are dual 2 ohm VC's then go with this Crossfire VR2000D (http://www.acaraudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_36&products_id=687). Its way underrated and would probably put out 2300+ watts. An even better choice would be this Orion 2500D (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13472). Of course you could always get ya a couple of these Hifonics (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13121) models.

Well I was hoping to get one amp to power both of them.
NOPE not kidding at all.... i was like holly phuckn chit!!!!
Naa gonna go with both of them ... I have one mtx 1500d should I just get another or sell the mtx and buy one of those big ass hifonic amps? (goliath) or something?

I believe MTX Thunder amps to be about the best amps on the market. Tons and tons of very clean power and unrivaled build quality. I would try REALLY hard to find another 1501D and use both of them.
Crutchfield (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-dwzrKxPmk6E/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=130&I=236T1501D) still has em but theyre $500 there.

the one i have i got for 350 on ebay brand new
bam88
03-07-2005, 08:27 PM
these are dual 4ohm so i would need a 1ohm stable highpower amp to push both of them at once or what?
MacLeod
03-07-2005, 08:32 PM
Well you could wire them in series which would give you a 4 ohm load.....I think....damn this stuff gives me a headache.
Yeah. For a pair of 4 ohm DVC subs, youd be running a 1 ohm load. The Orion and Crossfire both are 1 ohm stable.
bam88
03-07-2005, 08:35 PM
well Id be wanting to push atleast 1,500 to each of them...
you dont care for hifonics or something?
neomagus00
03-07-2005, 08:43 PM
mac is very much about bang for the buck, and as such i'd trust his judgement on all things related to that.
as a note, that pair of subs can be wired to either 1 or 4 ohms, as necessary... 1 is highly likely to be your best bet.

03-07-2005, 08:45 PM
Not really. Ive heard too many complaints of them up and dying.
Mobile Entertainment did a review of one a year or so ago and the amp died on the test bench!
However, Jstas and Cody have had a lot of success with them and swear by them so.....
Everybody has their favorites and mine are MTX, Crossfire, Alpine and Xtant with a little JL Audio and Orion thrown in for good measure.

BUT... if I were to compete ...at all...even in small time stuff... for chump change... arent you supposed to only have One amp or something like that... I have no clue of the rules.

Im kind of hazy on this too as Im more into SQ than SPL.
I think most orgs classify by total power. However there are some classes that go by number of amps.

usamps new de3000 will do 3000 watts at 1 ohm, sound better than a class d, and be a shit load more efficient

The reason you can't find the right amp is the "Bad Karma" of keeping something that isn't yours.
Return it and "do the right thing".

Nevermind the 2 inch size difference in what he ordered and what he got :) Of course, you're free to do what you want man, but you might possibly want to consider the situation if your positions were reversed and YOU made the $300 mistake...
Who knows, they might even tell you to keep them, or give you a big discount off what you really ordered. At least your conscience would be clear. I know that it would eat me up if I didn't say anything.

Just wanna add my two cents.
I bought an HCCA 15 on ebay about two years ago. Well the damn thing up and died on me... it was rated at 900 watts I believe and I ran about 1400 to it and killed it when a buddy of mine borrowed my car and decided to crank up the bass boost... :(
Anyway, I paid Orion $150 to replace it with an H2 15" and I loved the thing. I ran it for about a year off a Zapco 750... a little under 1000 watts rms. I was in an SPL competition and hit 150Db with 1/2 the rated power of the sub in a ported enclosure tuned at 35hz... It's an awesome sub.
Now where my two cents really come in is about 6 months after I bought my 15 I got a nice package from Orion. I opened it up and sure enough it was an H2 12. I stuck it in my closet and waited about 2 months and they never called. So I called them and ran the info by them and they told me I was the sub I ordered and they apologized for it taking so long to get to me. I said alright and hung up. Few months later I bought my truck, sold the 15 for more than I paid for it and slapped the 12 into my truck with my same amp and hit 150.5 in the small cab...
In summation... I love Orion and their H2 subwoofers. Lol.

LOL...:D I will be running bout 1500 to each of the 10" H2s that I have. You think I might beable to enter some spl contests?
MacLeod
03-10-2005, 09:43 PM
If you build the box and install them right you can! Theres a lot more to SPL competitions than just buying a 5000 watt sub and amp.
And I agree that the H2 is the baddest SPL sub on the planet. Not my first pick for SQ tho but they do sound good for a SPL sub.
swerve
03-10-2005, 09:46 PM
Yea - everyone at SPL contests has subs and an amp... not everyone has a good install.
so take your time and do it right.
hell if i wanted to get my stuff in tomorrow (my sub and amp) I could build a box put the XXX in and run the xxzeus off my delco battery and just rape my volts...
instead i'm saving for a snail shell box, red top, and a battcap.
just don't rush it and you'll be fine.
