OK, I'm ready to set up a tuner in my reference system, but I don't know much about them. Gotta ask -- how do I shop for a tuner? What features/specs should I be looking for?

Here are my parameters -- First of all, I don't want XM. I don't want to spend any more than $200 for a new or used unit. I'm only interested in 3 or 4 local stations, all of which are about 15 miles away (I live in the suburbs of Atlanta). So I don't think I'll need a super high powered tuner with all the bells and whistles. I'm just looking for something very basic that can get the job done. I also want something that's fairly new, like made within the past couple of years. I'm not into vintage stuff. It's gotta sorta match the components I already have. Currently been checking out Parasound or Cambridge Audio units. Will they work?

Thanks.

They will work, I wouldn't buy the Cambridge. My buddy Jim at fmtunerinfo.com just got one in to review, and he said it SUCKS.

If you want something newer, try and find a used NAD or Proton (specifically the 440).

Cheers,
Russ

Thanks for the link. Ended up ordering a similar Teac:

This one will look better with my components and has a remote. I'll be satisfed as long as I can get my jazz stations locked in pretty well.

Was a bit skeptical about ordering a Teac. Not sure of the build quality.
