View Full Version : What to eat?

So, basically I feel like hammered shit today. Got a double-meat burger, o rings, and about a gallon of tea in me so far.

What's for dinner tonight? Something soothing, something hearty. Probably be best to stay on the mild vs spicy side of things.

No, I don't want a nice greasy pork sandwich, served in a dirty ashtray.

Cheers,
Russ

DUMP-ling

What a strange word. I wonder where it originated?

Mac and Cheese sounds good, gotta throw something in with it though, protien-wise.

I just can't do milk today. I don't know why, but it seems very odd to me drink something from a sow's teet.

Spam and mashed taters keeps coming to mind.

Meatloaf, if you aren't sick of cow yet:

Mix Oatmeal, Hamburger, Chedder Cheese, Green Onion, little salt/pepper/garlic. Form into loafs about the siz of two twinkies. Cover in ketchup mixed with a touch of worschester, mustard, and brown suger.

Dang good fixin's on the cheap. Not too spicy, but has some taste.

Or you could add chopped up hot dogs to the mac & cheese

The hell with that!

Go to the store and pick up these:

in the Potato and Onion variety. Then go to the produce section and grab yourself a good souther Vidalia onion! THEN run your butt over to the meat cooler and grab yourself some decent Keilbasa. Now run over to the case where they keep the sauerkraut and grab a big honkin' bag of it. Also, grab butter, alot of butter and some nice, freshly baked dinner rolls!

Now get in your car, run home and unpack your stuff. Cut up that keilbasa into lengths about 2-3 inchs long and split them down teh center. Pull out a fryin' pan (cast iron works best) and fry them up until they start to get slighly burned. Meanwhile, boil up those peirogies and then drain them throughly. When done, cut about a tablespoon of butter and drop it into a frying pan. Chop up half that vidalia onion and throw it into the pan with the butter. Let the butter melt. Then throw those peirogies in and let them fry until they get a nice golden brown tinge to them. Now, take that sauerkraut, put it into a big pot and start heating it up. Throw the keilbasa and pierogies in and let the whole thing simmer down for a while. Don't let it boil over.

When that is finished, grab yourself those dinner rolls and a big plate and fill it up! If you'd like, some sour cream and horesradish on the side. Butter up some of those dinner rolls, grab a tall, frosty beer and go to town! Now that is "hearty" in the belly-bustin' sense! **

Gotta use those Poppy's Pierogies though. They are as close to my grandmother's as anyone has been able to come.

**Disclaimer: if you are on a diet of any kind, have any kind of cholesterol or acid reflux problems...hell, if you are living, this is not good for you! It sure as hell is good tasting though!

You had me up till' the kraut and horseradish. The point is NOT to vomit it right back up.

I could do some Perogies though. We don't have that brand, but the ones I buy sometimes are pretty damn good. They keep em in the Jew-food section.

Russ, double meat burger (Whataburger) is the best thing I've found - just the right amount of grease to get in there and coat the belly after a hard night.

Cheers,
Russ

Now we're talking.

Big ass iceberg wedge, fresh 'mater, and some Blue Cheese? Let's call it TWO fillets, how'd that be?

Cheers,
Russ

Sorry man. That's the stuff I grew up pn! My mom's entire side of the family is Polish. I gues syou could do without the sauerkraut but then where is your vegetable for a balanced dinner coming from?

The steaks and salad, that's a good idea too.

If you decide to go the mac and cheese route, I like to grill up a ham steak and cut it into little cubes to put in along with it. Tasty, tasty. :)

grilled Salmon with soy ginger dressing. Mmmmm Mmmmm Good!

for meatloaf.. try a zesty BBQ sauce instead of the ketchup mixed in the meat. then slather more BBQ sauce on top of said meatloaf 10 minutes before it's done cooking. Oh God it's good.

For a hangover, for whatever reason, a McD's ( I know, I know ) Quarter Pounder with Cheese and a gallon of Coke will get me back in the groove.

You know, though, I just don't like waking up feeling like shit anymore, though.
