alot of luxury cars come with stock subs. Like my mother's Lexus sc430 comes with a stock subwoofer. where do they usually put the sub in luxury cars..because they are hidden? i want to do a similar install in my civic..cuz i want things to look stock.

i think they tend to put them in the rear deck. if you want to do that, you can do one of two things - 1) seal your trunk completely and run the sub in infinite baffle mode or 2) mount an entire sub+box system to the rear deck.
done properly, this will make it a bit louder, especially for vented systems, but it's liable to be quite a bit of work. and, it'll probably be pretty obvious from the trunk. and depending on how the box is built, the usefulness of any folding bits of the rear bench could be compromised. (note that these are problems all sub systems face). your choice.

yea i hear ya. but in the lexus, its not behind the rear deck..i looked everywhere..but im 100% sure it does have a 8" subwoofer. I actually saw one install, the guy had a subwoofer up in the front under his HU and infront of the shifter. is that a good idea? or the trunk is the ideal spot for a sub?

The reason for putting a sub up front is for SQ. Ideally you want your bass up front with the rest of the music. The reason people put them in the back is that its about 1000 times easier to do so, plus you can stick bigger subs back there.
Stock subs are usually not subs. Theyre weird shaped speakers and are usually running full range.
Look around the center console if equiped. It may be there.

hmm... you think i could get 2 10's under the dash of my car? i'm sure it doesn't need most of those wires anyways, you think it can be done?

better idea... just remove the passenger seat...and load an enclosure there... Problem solved :)

that's just crazy talk... where would the date sit?
but seriously, do you guys think it's feasible to mount a sub in the dash? should i even bother ripping the car apart to check for space? cause you know me, i have to be different (who else seriously considers line drivers and aperiodic membrane enclosures in a non-competition vehicle?), and that would definitely be different. plus, it solves my problem of hearing the bass at 80mph with the droptop down.

That reminds me. Josh!! Can you buy those floor mats or were those specially made for the car? They look bad as hell and Id love a pair for my Beloved Dodge.

ooh! i know this one! www.matworks.com
and i'm thinking that's a tad extreme... i was thinking more along the lines of an invisible installation...
what about way behind the dash, down deep and up next to the firewall? hmm... this sounds too tasty to resist at least checking it out... maybe a nice AP box...
