This is one of the few forums where people typically don't hide behind their computers. Forum members are always getting together to enjoy this hobby of ours, and in fact enjoy a pilgrammage to the headquarters of Polk in the spring/fall.

Not at all Josh. However, lately we have been getting inundated with some from the CA forum whose only contribution to a thread has been to be insulting, rude, disrespectful little punks who write as if they didn't bother paying any attention in school.
Then they get surprised & insulted when we tell them to go back to where they came from. Then they proceed to call us old!
If they want to come here and contribute meaningfully to the conversations, and act like their age & not their shoe size they will be more than welcome!
As they are finding out, the majority of the adults over here don't have the patience to put up with disrespectful kids!

it just pisses me off sometimes that in the forum where both CA and HT post theres always a biased attitude against the CA forum.

i'm guessing alot of the people that want to achieve good sound quality in HT don't give a squat about doing so in their cars, so the challenges you face are equally meaningless to them.
i think the CA folks should feel free to post wherever they please, but posing questions like this is just *trying* to get people into a pissing contest.

if you meant it as an honest question, then fine, but you included the phrase:
"You guys dont have half the factors to deal with than a car to achieve good sound quality..."
which indicates you feel "separated" from "You guys" and a "my dick is bigger than yours" type attitude. if you are so sure about the relative "factors" involved why do you even need to ask the question?

if you truly are not sure, then why did you feel the need to compare the two and ignorantly (since you are not sure) make a comment about it?

I would agree that there are more factors to deal with in CA than there are in HA. I've done my share of car audio installs, but I don't do the things now, that I did when I was younger...priorities change from time to time you know what I mean?

Exactly.
Both car audio and home audio are challenging and rewarding hobbies. Nobody is denying that nor are they trying to say one is better than the other. Again, audio is audio its just our taste in venues is different.
What got our hackles up, and mine specifically, was being treated like a bunch of 16 year old dolts that wouldnt know the difference between a subwoofer and a hole in the ground. Myself, Cody, Neomagus, AusinKP, Jstas and PoweredByDodge are all very knowledgable and have systems that are not only loud in some cases but also sound very good (except mine cause I need a new sub). And would anybody dare question Josh or Thom's knack?
Dont associate the car audio side with the nitwits that you see driving along with 12 flea market subs in the trunk with sheet metal rattling all to hell and we wont associate home audio folks with effete, snooty "audiophiles" that look down their nose at anybody that doesnt have seperates.

Who in the HELL said anything about REPAIRING?
My example of my statement was SOUND DEADENING and VIBRATIONS...
If you buy a house, and you put a subwoofer in it, and it sounds like its going to fall in with each bass note...there isnt much you can do...SURE, you can take down the sheetrock...brace the studs, insulate more, glue, ETC ETC... after you do that...it'll cost...HOW MUCH?
If your car rattles and shakes...you take out the seats..carpet...etc and apply some dynamat...etc
...
Yeah ok...
And while I'm at it, I've done ALOT of remodeling, and I'd rather do car work over cutting out termite eaten floor joyces ANYDAY...ANYTIME.
Jeeeeeez, I don't know much bout cars...but I have remodeled enough houses to have my fair share of fixing sh*tty jobs

"Cars are much easier to fix than a house..."
Notice the word "fix" which has the definition of:
fix (fks) n.
1. The act of adjusting, correcting, or repairing.
2. Informal. Something that repairs or restores; a solution: no easy fix for an intractable problem.
And for the rest who want to jump all over me for something else that they don't get, I never said repairing a house was easy nor did I imply it. All I said was that the statement made was grossly over generalized and completely off-base. Maybe it wasn't a nice way to say it but rather than have some bastarized meaning of what I actually intended be perpetuated, I chose to make myself clear. Why don't we try READING the posts instead of sticking our foots in our mouths and getting our panties in a bunch? Sound like a good idea?
Oh yeah, houses I have remodeled = 3

Sid, stop crying. You have no clue about what it takes to "fix" a car in any respect. Yet you seem to be able to comment on how to "fix" them. I gave the extra info, not for your benefit and it was only given to show that I have experience in both areas and it's not a simple passing knowledge. "Fixing" a car is not as simple as throwing Dynamat at it and it seems that know-it-alls such as F1nut, yourself and jdhdiggs seem to think I have no clue what I'm talking about but can't seem to muster anything more than a passive-aggressive series of slams at me. I guess I don't rate enough to garner the service of having someone bring thier problems to me. They'd rather take snide little cheap shots in every post I make.
If anyone else made such an assinine statement as you did Sid, you and I both know that the "pack" would have been all over it.
Also, I didn't see a link of any kind in your post and if you are going to refer to me as superior, I would prefer if you spelled superior correctly.

I like this forum alot, and if some one posts something I don't like I have tried to resolve the conflict ASAP so we can get back to the informative aspect of this forum. Nobody will agree with everything we state, but there is away to do things. I am glad that the CA guys visit us sometime to talk in our discussions, but when there is a post that we are not feeling, the best thing to do is ignore it and not respond just to keep it nice around here.;) :p :p I'm not here to make anyone mad. just general discussion here is alot more educated than any other sites I visit... imagine that.

Look at your recent record on the board. You have made at least one proven fictitious claim and two completely outlandish and you get mad when some calls you on it. You have given me enough cause to never believe any item you say.
Virtually all posts are confrontational and you try to come off as being better/smarter than everyone and the best at everything. The truth is far from your claims
I'm bored with this now... *yawn*

What's your beef, tough guy?
You whined when I doubted your half assed statistic and you never showed any proof of your 2% claim nor did you show any proof of research by your or anyone else to backup that statistic. All I did was say that I really doubted it and got blasted over a typo which I apologized for. I gave you some personal experience that leads me to believe that the claim was not accurate and all I did was state that and of course that wasn't good enough. So now it's a "proven ficticious claim"?
Well lets see, what's ficticious about it? My strength vs. body size? Well, you're an inch too short and 40 pounds underweight on your guesstimate about me at 5'6" and 130 pounds. I'm only 5 foot 7 but I tip the scales at 170 pounds as of last Saturday when I was at the doctor's for a check up. I was also told I had about 7-8% bodyfat. Why is it unbelieveable that I can't put up a 200 pound weight? I never said it was easy and honestly, I never tried to brag about it. I'm not even bragging now, I am just trying to set the record straight. Seems like everyone here demands proof of something from someone at some point for something completly retarded. I just used personal experience for a frame of reference. It was YOU who turned it into a pissing contest. I know little about body building and such so of course I can't argue the points you were trying to make. Although, you have yet to validate the statement that led to all of this.
As far as the other "outlandish claims" I have made, I do not know what you are talking about. You need another explination to justify your stance there buddy.
Lastly, the only time I'm confrontational intentionally is when a dimwitted prick has to make it a point to cause issues for me. Any other time, the only "confrotational" part about any of my posts is the way that you or anyone else takes them. No, I'm not nice. Yes, I am blunt and to the point. I don't care either. Does it get me in trouble sometimes? Yes but when it happens, I make right when I am wrong. Yes, I have friends and they know I can be a complete bastard if I want to and I don't want to very often. If you want to try and make my life difficult because of some lame misconception then you are gonna tangle with me on a regular basis. I tried staying out of your face and you brought it to me. If you keep bringing it to me you're gonna get it right back everytime.
All this because I questioned a stupid, meathead statistic.
