Anyone have a bluebook value of these?

My father in CA is getting rid of some of his vintage gear he bought used about 15 years ago including these huge Tannoy speakers (with natural stone magnets) etc. from the 60s He mentioned that he was getting rid of his tube amp and all the extra tubes for couple hundred $. I said that does not sound right. Looking at Audiogon and they range $1500 to $2000 asking price.....anyone know BB value?

BTW, my dad was very pleased at the appreciation of this unit....did better than many stocks he has bought!!

Thx...

Tell your dad, I'd be MORE than happy to take it off his hands for double that couple of hundred.

I dont know much about it....He has offered it to me but doesnt know how to bring it out to me...thing weighs like 70lbs...not to mention all the extra tubes...
I am not sure it fits into my needs as I am expecting a kid soon...a boy at that and having hot tubes around may be a no no....Not to mention WAF...one of the reasons my dad is getting rid of it...my mom is on his back about it....funny how that works...

Last month my dad found a 10 year old Mcintosh cdplayer still in the box at an estate sale & got it for $15!. He looked it up on ebay & they were selling for over $800.

Hey F1....IIRC.. those Tannoys are about 150lbs each....stand about 5 ft tall, 1.5 ft deep and 2 ft wide....IIRC, they have solid wood cabinets that are about 1.5 inches thick. I dont remember the driver config. but seem to recall seeing a horn...anyways, those are going to be sold via e-bay...shippings going to be killer...apparently, audiophiles in Japan love the stuff and are being literally "shipped" overseas....
If my dad was closer, yes, I would offer up stuff here as I know many of you appreciate this stuff. But he is on the opposite coast....

I got off the phone with my dad.

F1, the Tannoys are model "Buckingham" It is a 4 driver 3-way, 150watt continuous 8 ohm according the the plates on teh speakers. He doesnt know if it has a horn but says it has two 12 inch drivers, one 10 inch driver and a "grill looking thing" in front of the 10 inch driver. He was going to take it to a e-bay outfit that can list and ship for him but is waiting till I say go do it....

BlueMD, does the Bluebook have any values associated with the Tannoys?

Thanks
Daniel

Edit...got some info off the web...I guess these are not as old as my dad thought they were....

BTW - The McIntosh should be close to this kind of condition (with a decent compliment of tubes) to bring the best price:

Thanks BlueMD...I will let dad know and will keep you in mind....I am positive the condition of his amp is not as nice as the one shown....I dont know how hard it is to get tubes but the real value may be the combination of the amp together with the assortment of tubes he has (dont ask me what they are).

As to the speakers, not worth its weight I guess....

Blue,

Hey, I'm first in line for the Mac so step off, eh?? :D

2+2,

I concur in that if there is a way to keep that amp, you probably should. As far as shipping it goes, contact McIntosh. Who knows, they may offer shipping cartons or offer ideas on the best way to pack for shipping.

2+2,

If you're not going to take the speakers, I want them, can we talk about a deal?

Jesse, I definately DONT want the speakers....way too huge and way too heavy....so you are willing to pay for shipping on these?? My dad doesnt even know where to start to ship these things...hence the reason why he was going to that ebay place who can take care of that. He doesnt have a digital camera and he is 3000 miles away...PM me with a ball park figure of what you are proposing and I will tell my dad....its his mamoth speakers. Maybe my brother can photo these for you....

Blue..."renigdibs"....LOL:D :D :D

Hi F1, they are the ones in the first picture....big and tall. As I PMed you, my dad was planning on selling the Tannoys and use his Jamo (?) speakers. When he hooked up the Jamos, one was not working. If he sells the Tannoys, he has to get some different speakers and he doesnt think he will be able to get as good of speakers for the money he will get out of the Tannoys.....hence, he has decided to keep it. Sorry bud.

As to the MC240, I have officially told dad DONT sell it, save it for ME ME ME later....so he put everything back and is going to continue using it until he moves to a smaller house. Sorry Troy and BlueMD....Funny thing is, now that my mom knows the value of the 240, she is now off my dad's back about getting rid of it......funny how that works.....;)

Hey BlueMD, I notice now that F1 has put up some pictures that your Bluebook price is for the "Monitors" (second picture). Anything in that good book about floorstanders of the first picture? Thanks bud.

I can't find anything other than the monitors listed. Check AudiogoN periodically for some real world price comparisons.

Glad you're keeping the amp in your family!
