is it possible to upgrade the outputs ?
or is it necessary ?

The digital out seems to be broke (plastic)

Balanced outs maybe ?

F1nut

Sure, it's possible. Cardas makes some nice ones. As for the digital out, contact Kevin and I'm sure he'll send you a new one or remove it, plug the hole and forget about it.

Balanced outs? Nah, it's not a balanced design, so no point.

thanks F1...

Cardas outputs on the short list.. :D

I`m just looking for a way to use the ones on my amp..!
and I saw some nice I/C`s for a good price..!

not that I can afford any right now...
besides..the pre doesn`t support them anyway..!

the heat sink was the hardest to install, as it was a tight fit...

she`s ready for a test run..

I would like to thank F1 for all his help and input from cradle to grave on this project...

He helped me locate this unit, and was a great help throughout the process....

I see that you used dynamat to line your player. I use similar sound-deadening material (used for car audio and inside speaker cabinets) to line the inside of my Denon 2200, as well as stick some pieces on the outside of the transport case. It helps quite a bit in vibration control.

Nice job. I have been looking to do some mods to my cpd. What thickness of Dynamat did you use and where did you obtain it from? Is that something that you put on the underside as well as the inside of the cabinet?

you can get it at www.partsexpress.com , crutchfield, or do a search in your browser..

there is a lot of places that sell it..

you can apply it to anything that may vibrate, as long as you don`t restrict airflow in any way you should be fine..

now I`m just waiting for the killer I/C`s to show up..

Got em from a great guy over at the `gon...;)

Bear, looks great and you did a nice job with the step by step pics. How does it sound?

Another source for Dynamat is www.thezeb.com. I like the Xtreme stuff best, but any of it is good.

beardog, where did you source the tube dampers from and have you used the setup with and without them installed?

F1...

got her powered up and tubes warmed up

no flames shooting out , so it looks like I did it correctly..!!!

actually It is a pretty straight forward upgrade/mod..
even I could do it..!!:D

I have the NOS JAN Phillips 6922`s in the pre amp...

MAN...this system amazes me everytime I turn it on...

The music has a crystal clear sound with the killer tube sound mixed in..

out effin standing..!!!

The LSi9`s seem to like this player/system...
may be my imagination, but it seems more powerful...more full..

I love it bro...thanks for the help/tips...

DAGLJAM6 ,

The upsampler kit came with a set..

There were already a set in the CDP when I got it..

I put the new ones on the Dodd tubes..
It seems to tame the "ringing" sound that I hear sometimes..

You might try upscale audio and see if they have some..

I think they are a good thing to incorperate into the tube set-up

10-4, I've got a pair of 12au7's that do the "oscillation ring" thing great tubes otherwise.

Not to steal your thread but, I remembered some old tubes I had stashed and ..lo and behold a pair of damper collars circa 1964-65
pulled 'em off slid them on my 12au7's and great no "ring"
I'll still check with Upscale 'cause they don't seem to detract from the sound other than the irritating ring.

I wish that I could do a comparison with my Jolida CDP and an Ah CDP.
With that additional upsampler yours should really sound sweet with well engineer cd's .

Nice of you to show the upgrade in pictures ,always like to see the innards of gear.

Looks great. I'm sure it sounds better, too.

Two things --

1. Has anyone ever tried using those peel & stick floor tiles from Home Depot instead of Dynamat? I don't know, but I heard they work just as well for a fraction of the cost of Dynamat.

2. I bought some tube dampers off ebay a few months ago from a guy in Canada:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50598&item=5765169507&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Don't know if they actually make a difference, but they look kinda cool.
