View Full Version : Zobel Network on RTi10 - High capacitance cable

Hi All,

I'm actually looking for some technical advice on using high capacitance cable between RTi10's and Luxman amp.

(Polk technician's comments are very welcome here)

I've read that to stop my amp suffering from oscillation due to the capacitive load of the cable a Zobel network should be installed at the speaker binding posts.

OK that is all sweet...

My questions relate to which resistor & cap combo to use.
I've heard that this depends on the specs of the speakers.

So that's where I'm at.

If anyone could guide me in the right direction to help me design a Zobel that is optimised for my RTi10's I would be very grateful

Thanks in advance

You'll need the driver's DC coil resistance (can be measured w/ an ohmeter) and inductance (not so easy to measure)... I'd place a call to polk's tech support.

But it probably already has a zobel circuit on there... unscrew your speaker binding posts from the speaker, carefully pull ou the whole unit and see if you have a capacitor & resistor in series with each other & in parallel with your driver.
