okay...need some help.!

I want to hook up my LSi`s to the Rotels

Can I bridge the amp on the LSiC..?
It`s a 4 ohm speaker

The reason behind this is that the AVR has one output for the center channel

so I put one I/C into the left channel, and fliped the bridged switch to make it play both channels..

should I get out the fire exstinguisher ?

I have not fired up the center channel yet...

I was told Wed. that I have a bad case of walking Phnumonia...

The manual for my Rotel RB-980BX says "DIN power output is 220WPC (1kHz, 4 ohms, 1% THD)". Does that help? I don't know DIN is.

I ALWAYS leave an access route to the goods..!!

With thephnumonia meds, special cough syrup ,and pain meds,
I`m alittle leary of going back there right now though..

I can hardly function right at the moment..!!;)

Of course that will not keep me away from my beloved forum..!!

I am actually thinking of having a major sale so I can keep the

They aint no SDA's...

Great sound but in a different way. Talk about a speaker that needs a particular room. I thought the SDA's were a setup nightmare until I played with the Amazings. :)

No problems here, they are perfect so far.....I haven't had a speaker that didn't sound great in this room yet....well, at least to me.

I'm burned out on SDA's....need a long break.

madmax

I guess what got me was that for whatever was wrong with placement the solution ended up being the opposite required with the SDA's. Very strange speakers. Once I got them set up right I thought they were equal but in different ways compared to the SDA's. A slight change in toe in or in angle changed everything. Much like F1 I ripped them apart after a few days to upgrade and they are still that way. :D

Shack - Yea....and my back hurts.

Beardog - Carver Amazings(Original-Piano)....Jesse has the next series, Platinum(Piano)....and George has the Platinum MkIV(Oak). I think TroyD and I have the same ones?...we couldn't remeber.

Two 30 inch ribbons and 4 12" woofers per cabinet. The bass is pronounced but not at all bloated, which I was real happy about. The high end is fantastic....it was an easy transition from the Magnepan's to these, also much to my enjoyment.

Sorry to derail.

Tour - Yea, it doesn't care who it plays with. The gain is a little low on my pre now, but I'll just bump that up with a tube change.

Bear - I know exactly what it's like, and I'm still into speakers, but you need to branch out. A few key Polks is all you ever need for inventory and fun....an SDA, a Monitor 7 or 10 and an RTA12.

Three completely different approaches from Polk that define the vintage era IMO.

My wife's comment to seeing the Amazing's...."Hideous"....my comment to her "Excellent".

Just kidding; looking good and crazy as always. This forum is full of audio nuts. One of the reasons I like to stick around. There is always somebody crazier than me around here.

I can see why you made the long trip, great snag Doro.

i see what you mean by trying other speakers. i'll definitly be listening to these for a while. thanx again.

to save time (i suck with a digital camera :D )

if you look at Doro's system showcase, i believe he still has a picture of them there. (second picture, in front of the RTA 12's) its the B&W DM 1400. Only gave it a couple hours of listening, but so far i'm very impressed by their sound. especially for their size. their about the size of a RT 55, but with the attached stands (lead shot filled) they way an effin TON! I have them hooked up to my 2 channel rig in place of the 2B's at the moment. might be their for a while to really give them a critical listen.

dorokusai

The shot loading really helped the bass response.

I think sonically they are pretty damn good and every bit of a match for the class standard of bookies...the RT55(i). I think the B&W offers more clarity, perhaps being a little sharp at times....but that is due more to recording media IMO, then anything else. Excellent bass....and if it didn't have an installed, yet removeable stand, I'd venture to say it's one of the most underappreciated bookies around.

I would throw some spikes on the stands and you should be real tight.

New B&W lame, old B&W, cool in my book.

Madmax - I'm sorry I missed your post. I know what you mean, but I figure this comes with the territory, two totally different speakers you know what I mean? SDA-Easy, Planar/Electrostat/Free Ribbon....creative.

I played with the MMG's only a little to get off, and they are another speaker notorious for placement issues.

Perhaps my expectations are low, but I found a couple sweet spots already with the Carvers and they work just fine for me....zero toe.

My room is small, but then again, TroyD's room is the smallest ever....well, I mean nearfield for a speaker that's 66" tall and radiates from top to bottom....and they sound outstanding in his setup. Immediate interaction with the soundstage.

System synergy...when the front and back end work well....how could the speakers not? That's about all I can figure in this placement issue.

At least on straight 2 ch sans SH, I never found mine to be all that hard to enjoy either. Even standing in front of my SRS's when they first landed here. That's not to say that things did not change with split (long wall in my den so no corner issues), distance from wall, etc. But certainly wasn't an all or nothing deal. Ended up with about a 7' split and slight toe-in.

Tilt was fun to play with... ended up liking them a little more upright than the 7" lean the manual calls for. I think it had to do with keeping reflections out of the false beams in my ceiling.

Kicking in the SH did lead to a couple minor adjustments. Closed up the split some and eminated te toe-in. Is the bright, little box on your pre the SH unit?

Seems like Troy had more split between his than you do. As close as yours look to be, toe-in is not certainly not needed. Manual calls for zero toe-in as well.

So what you been spinning so far? What was the all important first cut?
