Well.... I've had my new (to me) player for a little over a week now and just wanted to put out a few observations.

My old player was a Yami CDDC 835. It has always done the job fairly well and performed as expected for it's price range, msrp $550. Compared to my DVD player it was always sounded really bright and very "fake" and digital, also sometimes VERY harsh depending on the recording. It would sound annoying after 5 minutes of listening so it rarely got used period.

My DVD player was a Samsung and sounded better IMO than the Yami in certain ways. Everything sounded toned down and smother, though on complex recordings it sounded as though it had trouble in the definition department. Overall better than the bright and harsh sound of the Yami but not "great" overall.

Soon after I plugged in my new addition, a Krell KAV-250, I would realize the flaws of my prior two players imediately. On my favorite and least favorite recordings every note was very defined and thorough. Listening made everything sound more realistic with a natural sounding smoothness, no added "color" or "flavor" could be heard. It also really made the LSi's tweeter, which was already great sounding, just that much better. Cymbals sounded like they were right where you would visiallize them, though this probably has more to do with the LSi than it does the source.

Overall, I'm very happy with this new addition to my rack and have no complaints. For the $900 spent on this unit, which was/is in brand new condition, I wouldn't hesitate to recomend this to all who have a few extra dollars to spend on a source upgrade.

Also, one of the niceties of owning Krell products is that they hold thier value really well and if you didn't like a product or just needed to sell, you wouldn't have any problem selling it form what I've seen.

BTW, I'm also still in love with my LSi 9's and can't get enough of them. Each and every new album makes me even happier with that purchase. : )
