I finally got my DVDs moved into the closet, ditched the A/V cabinet and makeshift TV stand. I am just about done with the flexy below, little more touch up to do.

Little hard to see the equipment. Top right is the Marantz SR5000, below that is the Monster HTS2500, to the left is the JVC progressive player with a Sony VCR under it. Then of course the cigar box in the bottom left, next to wilson.
Next, update the Green Room website. Hopefully get those done this weekend.
Peace Out~:D

Ron,
I guess Moulin Rouge is still one of your favorite DVD's.......I notice it sitting on top of your equipment! Anyways, don't work too hard moving everything around and hope to check your new updated website once it's completed.

Are those 3/4" rods? They look pretty beefy.

Yep, just watched it last night after I got everything hooked back up.

Yes they are. I have them covered with that plastic split tubing stuff you wrap up cables in. Works great and I do not need to paint the rods.
Haven't decided it I am going to paint the nuts and washers or just leave them.
Peace Out~:D

thing must be beafy how much do your tv weigh? i have a 65 mit and it is 350lbs if yours is heavy you should add some cross braces for lateral suport

It did not take too long. I cut all the shelves Thrus night and painted/sanded/painted them. Once I cut the shelves I stacked them on top of eachother, used clamps and drilled the holes straight thru all of them at the same time. That way they were really lined up nicely. Friday night I put her all together. All-in-all probably about 8 hours.
She weighs in a 170 lbs. I weigh in at 185 and I stood on it. I do not need cross-bracing because I have to center supports in the middle. If you look close enough, you can see'em. The back one is not covered with black yet. It is extememly solid. I tend to over build things. It's not going anywhere.
Peace Out~:D

I like that Ron. Is there any protection to keep one of those rods on the floor from going through or is that not an issue? (I don't know much about construction). I may have to try one of these someday. Where do you find the hardware?

Max,
Order all the nuts, bolts, and washers from www.mcmaster.com. It will save you quite a bit over Home Depot. You can pick the threaded rods and the MDF (wood) up at Home Depot. They'll also cut the wood for you for free.

Alright, the customers are lining up.
Now's the time to produce a shiny brochure—describing the thread stock, washers and nuts as "audio-grade", and the boards as "innert and noise-canceling", and the paint as "anti-resonant epoxy"—and slappin' a high-end price tag on the contraption. But ya gotta have a catchy name. And, it might help if you're pictured on the front in a white lab coat.;)

It's already been done. Go to Salamander Design's web site (http://www.mander.com/archetype/index.htm).

Thanks John. I am pretty proud of it. I enjoy doing everything myself. But, supporting a family I do not have tons of cash to dump into buying all the stuff. So, if I can make it instead of buy it, I will.
Peace Out~:D

By the time it was all said and done with my flexy rack, I might as well have just bought a rack. It cost me about the same amount, not to mention the hours of work. Knowing what I know now, I definitely could have built it for less, though.
