My friend's speakers don't have keyhole but he really wants them wall mounted. Is screwing the mount onto the back of the speaker a bad idea or is it ok? Will it have an effect on the sound?

Can you build some sort of a shelf for them? Sid (Vr3MxStyler2k3 ) built some really nice shelves so he could mount floorstanders on the wall. Looked pretty easy to build and worked quite well.
I just hate screwing things into a perfectly good speaker.
BTW - if they are bose speakers, screw away. :)

Edit - Found a pic of them They are used to hold movies and CD's now (but still on the wall) (http://www.eandr.biz/HTPic11Leftstage.jpg) It looked nice with the speakers he had there. I am sure he could point you in the right direction to build some yourselves.

Yep, those were designed to hold a 50 pound speaker...
Actually, I have a pair of speaker sshelves (big enough to hold a RT5, RT35i laid on its side) - they need a lil wood filler and a new paint job, but could be yours for 10 dollars, + a box full of packing materials They even have a cork top to keep the speaker from vibrating off...
If you are interested, I'll go get them out of the garage and take some pics

OK guys thanks for your help. My friend just decided we could make our own shelves so you don't have to bother pulling out yours (but thanks anyway)
