Looking for something for the bedroom. Does not have to be very powerfull but I would like it to be in nice condition. I would like to get a Sansui, Marantz, Pioneer, or Rotel. Wood case would be extra nice :) If someone has one sitting around collecting dust, let me know. I have seen several on ebay but I would prefer to check here first.
Thanks,
Todd

Ebay's your best bet. I've bought about 6 or 7 Marantz's there and only have one left, a 2235 which I'm keeping for a second or third system. If it's just for a bedroom and you don't care about power I'd suggest a 2245 or below. You can get these dirt cheap because everyone wants the bigger ones. They rated the power a little differently back them so the 2220-2245 should be fine for smallish, efficient speakers. You should be able to find one in that price range easy.

Just got finished looking on ebay. There is a Pioneer SX-850 that looks to be in very good shape. One of the lights is out. Anyone know how hard that is to fix? And thanks for the suggestion on the Marantz

Ok 6 mins left no one will probably have time to respond but.....Is a Marantz 2226B a nice reciever?

The 2226B would probably do the trick for you but you can probably do better than that....just be patient.....they get a ton of those on Ebay to choose from. Don't go for the Buy-It-Now prices though.

The xx50 Pioneer series are great too. I bought the 1050 back in '77 I think it was. The 850 would be great and the lights can be replaced pretty easily. I personally like the 'blue light' on the black background Marantz's the best. The Pioneer xx50 series was orange lights on silver background. Great receivers though.

I have a Marantz 2220B and a Pioneer SX-450, but I'm definately not interested in parting with the 2220B. The Pioneer has some issues, so I'm not sure that you'd want it. I do still use it in my main rig (for now).
Anyway, the marantz is a more powerful receiver, and I would have to say that the sound quality on both is pretty much equal. I'm sure the SX-850 would be a great receiver....

Actually, got any pics? I don't really need the tuner. I want something to hook up to my computer.

Todd, if you don't need a tuner... think about getting a integrated amp instead. the silver faced Pioneers are sweet. so are the Yamaha's.. but not AS sweet. just a thought.

OK....way to go guys!
However, while we're on the subject, check this out! This is the one I had, the 1050. I want it again! 120WPC, transformers damn near the size of beer cans. This will go for $300 or more easy.

There is also a 1250 on ebay right now. I think the buy it now price was close to $600. Those high end recievers are getting expensive. They are cool though. I can't wait to get that SA-6800. Those blue lights are too cool. Man I am glad you guys cought that before I made a mistake.

Seems like I saw in one of your pictures you had six or so 22xx Marantz receivers sitting in a rack... Are those some of the boat anchors you're referring to?? I wish I had kept that 2270 that I sold a few years back.

Yeah, you saw that one.
Current Marantz Inventory:
2216 Need to install bulbs
2230 Need to install bulbs
2270 Ready to go
2365 Ready to go
Model 19 Ready to go
Nice thing about the Marantz, or most of em' at least, is the bulbs are simple fused-type, the problem in some models is getting to them.
Of course, you have Sansui too, I've got BIG 8700db that I need to clean the pots on, what a bitch, not to mention back-breaker. All that said, she'll do a REAL 160wpc / continuous. Total monster receiver, I just don't care for them, esp the real estate they take up.
Happy to work a deal with you Jason on the 2270, that is, if I ever see those Tang-Band 2-ways. ;)
Cheers,
Russ
