Anyone know what kinds of equipment (amps, speakers, subs, etc.) are commonly used in theaters? I know there are standards from Dolby and all, that they have to meet, but is there a pretty broad range of equipment capable of meeting those standards?

I know that Klipsch has line of commercial theater speakers, and I'm relatively sure that I've seen the 'Klipsch' logo on the surround speakers at at least two of the theaters I ususally go to.

I'm going to ask the owner of the local theater if he'll give me a tour the next time I see him.

Approx. 10-20 yrs. ago a co. called Electrovoice made most of the commercial speakers for theaters, churches, and schools. Now JBL has most of the commercial speakers out there. Amps and other elecronics are differant from what I hear.
