I have an old pair of Energy bookshelf speakers. What do I need to connect these to my computer? I already have the sound card in the PC. Thanks Folks.

Most computer sound cards need a powered speaker setup due to the relatively low output of the sound card. If you want to try what you have get an earphonre size jack and run its outputs directly to your speakers. You can probably find what you need at Comp USA or Best buy.

The sound card won't put out enough power. You will need either a receiver, an integrated amp or a pre-amp and an amp. It would be like having a computer as a source instead of a cd player. Maybe try and find something really cheap at a garage sale or something.
And you would need somethign like this.... -link- (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&dept=0&sku_id=0665000FS10044671&catid=&newdeptid=2#)

Actually you can get by with just a power amp (and that cable michael_w linked to) You'll just use the volume slider in your computer toolbar to adjust the volume and you can totally do without the pre-amp. Depending on the input sensitivity of the power amp and the max voltage output of the soundcard, you might not be able to crank it all the way, but you'll be like 3 feet from the speakers, so you don't need much volume.
Go pick up an adcom 535 on ebay for like $60 and you'll be set...
