Hey,
I recently damaged my svideo cable. Basically what happened is that one of the pins broke off. There are 4 gold pins and I think one black pin which is a guide (i believe). I tried it anyway and the quality was the same. Does one pin not make a difference or do my eyes really suck.
Thanks for any info,
Chris

your eyes suck ;) just kidding, did the pin break off on the cable or in the electronic device ?

S-video has two grounding pins and two signal pins... some equipment shares the two grounding pins, so as long as one still works you get picture.
So the good news is that your cable works, the bad news is that it might not work when you change gear and it'll be more susceptable to interference in the mean time.

it broke off in the cable.
thanks for the answer guys. I guess I lucked out. I am planning to buy a pioneer DVD player soon, since I'm using a free aiwa my dad won.
Appreciate it,
Chris
You could purchase a s-vid end & just replace it. If your decent at soldering it should be fairly simple. Or have a shop or someone near you replace the end. Im not sure which cable your using. If you have a good cable its worth the repair, but if you have a standard cable it is probably cheeper to purchase a new cable.
