Was just flipping through the latest copy of The Absolute Sound in which the review the Gilmore Model 2. Pretty good read about the Carver clones.

The reviewer thinks that they are a good buy at 20K.....

I just find it hilarious that the only differences that he can seem to point out are a different crossover slope and Corian panels. Has the audio press no shame??

Are you STILL surprised at how oblivious I am? How long have you known me?

For those that DON'T know, what I know about audio is the stuff that George sent my way and stuck. Most of it (and a lot else) did a complete flyby.

I can't wait for #2000.

WTF is wrong with the audio magazines? I haven't bought any in years because of this very same issue. They think we shit money!

I don't have a problem with the price per se. I like to read about stuff I can't afford....

It just amazes me that they won't come out and say it's a blatant knock off. I mean, I know Stereophile wouldn't. Actually, Stereophile wouldn't touch those anyway but I thought TAS might have a little more credibility.

Have't heard the Carver clones or CA but I've seen pics and they do look very similar. But what's with the big price tag? Even the CA didn't cost 20k when it fist came out, right?

I guess they didn't want to call it a knock off because they're afraid of getting in trouble with the company. I'd like to read straight up reviews. If something sucks, say so. If it's a knock off, tell us about it.
