A friend of mine was telling me to run a splitter off me cable TV coming into the house and run it to my recevier for my FM antena.
Will this work? I was told the reception will be great and I will get more stations.

I think it would work only if the cable provider were to provide the service. Back in the early 70's when our community first got cable, the company provided a feed from an antenna on top of their 500' tower and we could receive stations 250 miles away loud and clear. Years later vandals cut a guy wire causing the tower to fall and when it was replaced, the FM signals were gone. :( Would have loved to have had the chance to see what the TX-11b could have done with a source like that! :)

Did you have to buy anything to do this? If I just run the cable to the AVR it will pick-up the FM signal.

My receiver has the screw type coax on the back so I just screwed ! I had another that needed an adaptor.

I have that also, I just didn't know if I needed some sort of other hardware to do this thru the cable. ( I'm new to this)

No just get a splitter one to tv and one to receiver. Just remember that some of the channels may not be on their original channels
