Not a review so much........just EXTREMELY happy and had to share........
A while back I was in LA and had taken my cd's with me and ended up accidentally leaving several in the rental car that were stolen and not turned in.
One of them was an album that I was really into at the time and I figured that I'd try to re-purchase it later and that would be that......no big deal, right?
The problem is that it was an import and by the time I actually looked for it to re-purchase, it was out of production.
As you all mostly know I LOVE LOVE dance/techno/house music, and the artist was DJ Jurgen's album "His Favourite Tracks Part 2".
I pretty much gave up any chance of finding the album, and a few weeks ago just through randomly trying to hunt it down on some used sites, ran across Dj Jurgen's website. I sent a last ditch email to him to see what the chances were of the CD existing, but me just not having access because I'm in the US (he's based out of the Netherlands). I asked him if he could refer me somewhere that I could purchase the CD from.
Instead, he sent me an email saying he thought he had one of that album around his place and then later emailed me back and asked for my address to send me the copy he had.
I JUST got it in the mail and while I was talking to a friend on the phone totally interrupted him and went nuts that I opened it up and he had signed it for me.
I wouldn't have EVER thought that an artist would be this cool about my stupidity in leaving a CD in a car, but the fact that he not only had one, but sent me his copy and signed it ranks VERY VERY high in my books.
I'm listening to this thing all night, and while he's mostly popular for some of his more mainstream mixes (Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay), this album KICKS ASS!!!! One of the songs in his mix is a remix of Bruce Hornsby's song "That's Just Way It Is" (retitled The Way It Isn't). Doesn't have the words, but is instantly recognizable. One of my other albums from another artist has a remix of Chicago's song Hard To Say I'm Sorry.
Definitely one of my favorite things about this style of music is hearing them find ways to remix older songs and put a current spin on them with a more upbeat and fast tempo.
Anyway, with the way the past few weeks have been going, this has TOTALLY made my day, and my neighbors will be enlightened a bit, if not shut the fuck up from all their ghetto ass arguing that they've been doing since 7am.
