Hey guys,
Um.. First off this is a system for my dad.
Not that there is anything wrong with karaoke but just letting you know.
I had a few questions and hopefully someone can help.
First off what do I need. A microphone yes.
This would be running through my HT system which I believe is feasable.
Any other things I should look? My dad said something about a mixer but I have no idea what that is.
Do I need a special Dvd player?
thanks,
Chris

Hello Chris,
My knowledge about karaoke is fairly limited, but I'll tell you what I know. In most cases one of the components in the electronics chain has to be designed for karaoke applications. In other words, either the receiver or the disc player has to have been specifically built for that use. The Pioneer Company, for example, has (at least when I last looked) a very wide assortment of karaoke specific equipment. They had receivers, disc players, microphones, EQs, etc for this pursuit. They also produced a wide assortment of karaoke discs in all kinds of musical categories. Probably a karaoke receiver might be the first place to begin and try and find a knowledgeable Pioneer dealer in your area. Make sure your dad sees the karaoke scene in Cable Guy!
Take care, Ken

You'll need to find a special DVD player that plays DVD-G (or is it CD-G??). Also, look into one with probably 2 mic inputs so you can duet with the ol' pops the next time Baby's Got Back comes on. It'll make for great fun. Then plug that player into your HT and you're good to start the festivities.
