I dont see how its not a good idea? if someone took the time to really build a tree enclosure, really sanded the inside out nicely and evenly and sealed it good, its a rock hard enclosure. I wouldnt know about long term when the wood dries out.

A circular enclosure is actually ideal just kinda hard to pull off. A tree trunk tho is a bad idea.
