Today while listening to the CD Plains by George Winston I noticed distortion coming from the tweeter at certain passages in tracks 13 and 15. On track 15 they come at approximately 2:05, 2:55, 3:18, 3:37, 5:10.
I have found this from both sets of speakers I use. Does anyone who has this disk notice the same thing? I'm trying to isolate the source.
Thanks

I think I have that one in my archives. I'll look it up and listen. What are you playing it with, player.amp, speakers, volume? It will be tomorrow night before I can reply.

Sorry I could'nt get back sooner but I had to run out of town for a couple of days. Finally got a chance to listen to the Plains cd. That is a HDCD and I was using a HK player, Carver C-1 pre to TFM-35 thru Monitor 10B speakers at "moderate" volume. Those passages you listed are very high treble notes and my VU meters on the player pegged in the red. I think the recording mikes picked up a lot of harmonics on some of the notes. If you were pushing your AVR 75 I could see where you might get a little distortion. My M10s were struggling themselves. Great music though. Hope this helps.

I believe if your hearing it, no matter which speaker, then it would almost have to be the cd. I've noticed some flaws in the recording on the Police's "Every Breath You Take" cd. Flaws I'd never heard before. Just goes to show how, with a good set of speakers, you'll notice both the good and bad in a recording.

Polkster85:
Thanks for taking th time to listen. hearing your observations does make me feel better about my equipment. I used to own 10B's, ran a university dance for 600+ on them and an HK 680i receiver, actually won an award for the sound. Unfortunately, marriage forced a downsizing or else I'd still have them.

ND your right good speakers do have a tendency to show off the good and the bad.
