I wonder if anyone can tell me the differences between a cs 400 and a cs 400i .I am looking for a cs 400i but have noted a couple of cs 400's on the bay.Only outward difference seem to be the color of the cones. Can find no reference to cs 400 on polk's site.

good question. Other than matching the other rt i lines I have no clue.

I think the i means improved, but I don't know whether thats drivers, tweeters, both or what. A question for Polk CS.

howdy- yeah the "I" does stand for improved. (geesh).
I think they tweaked the crossovers and the "I's" are made of wood not vinyl.
any differences in performances would prob. be negligible.

The "i" supposedly stands for "improved". There was a change in the materials for the mid/bass drivers, and the crossover was modified. The tweeter is the same tri-lam in the non "i" RT series.
It was kind of tweeking the sound, but the differences are small. You probably wouldn't be able to hear the difference in an a/b comparison, but the responses are slightly flatter.
Both are made from MDF and real wood veneer.
