They've been around since the 80's. One of those 'tough guy' metal bands. I saw them on Sun and it was a great show. Rhapsody opened up and they were killer.
These guys actually brought their own speakers which were bigger than the house PA. I thought the house PA are fine. I've seen many shows in that venue and can't complain. But damn, this is the first show I've been to where they were offering ear plugs. Brought mine from home. It was the loudest show I've been to.
Anyways, just a heads up incase there are Manowar fans here. They're still touring N. America.

Hell yeah I remember those guys.
I never got huge into them but I had a couple of their albums although I couldnt find em right now if I had to.
I always liked their album covers with them all looking like Schwarzenegger with battle axes and stuff.
Now that was metal!! ;)

"Manowar, born to rule for evermore".... another solid NYC area band.
Listened to them briefly in my younger days. I preffered heavier stuff.

Peersool,
What are the heavier stuff you listen to now? I agree, Manowar isn't that heavy (the new stuff actually is) but they have authority and power!
Audioslave,
Have you seen them live? These guys are so good. They love their fans and interact with the crowd.
MacLeod,
Yeah, those covers kick ass. They're the best when it comes war anthems! I love the part from "Call to Arms":
"I Now Issue The Call Are You Ready To Fight
Fight All Together As One For The Right To Be Free Once Again
Tonight We Will Win"
Been so long since I had this much fun at a concert. Here's my favorite Manowar cover... Their war hero seems to be getting more buffed on every release:cool: .
organ - The "NEW" stuff I've been listening to includes NIN, Slipknot, Disturbed, Rob Zombie, Static-X, Mudvayne, and Godsmack.
I pulled out my old cassette collection so I wouldn't miss any of the heavier stuff I listened too back then (and still do today to some extent). This is most of it: Slayer, Testament, Exodus, Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Anthrax, Death, Obituary, Forbidden, Wrath, Dark Angel, Death Angel, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Sepultura, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Kreator, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Metal Church, D.R.I., Reverand, Trouble, Ministry, White Zombie, Vio-Lence, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Accept, NIN, and Metallica - I only went as far as the "black" album with them before I decided that they became a bunch of sell outs. There are probably more. I enjoyed seeing a lot of these guys in concert - I honestly can't pick a favorite concert but I'd say Exodus, Obituary, and Death all put on great shows.
Don't get the wrong idea - I listen to a lot of different types of music. This was the Thrash, Speed, Death Metal, Headbanging phase of my mis-spent youth (mid/late 80's to early 90's). Mid 90's I started going alternative/grunge. Thanks for the trip down memory lane organ! ;)

Manowar!, Wow the memories. They were awesome. I had 3 albums all the way up to the Triumph of Steel.
They were a very unique sounding band with medieval influence and viking imagery mixed in. To this day their lead singer, Eric Adams has got to be one of the best, if not the best vocalists I have ever heard. He can hold a note longer than anyone I can remember and make it sound great. Better even than Bruce Dickensen from Iron Maiden, who was an opera singer.
Peersool and I listened to a lot of the same stuff.
I think all the bands though fall short compared to Tool.

Yes, I have seen Manowar. They played the NYC club scene. They were a good live band. Did you ever hear of bands named Cities or Phantoms Opera. Two other solid NYC club bands. I was a regular at a Brooklyn club called LAmour's. Many great bands played Lamour's back in the day. Another great club was Detroits in Westchester just outside of NYC I once saw Aerosmith play at Detroits under the name of Doctor J Joned and the Interns. It was a special tour called the Mystery Train Tour. They would book small club dates under fake names. If you were lucky to pick up on the name you saw Aerosmith at a small club. The cool thing about it was even that night you never knew if it was really them, every thing was hush hush. Once you got into the club and saw the mike draped with scaf's you knew it was Tyler and crew.
