View Full Version : So the local tweeter went out of business...

I only found out by some guy holding a sign stating 40-60% off... Right away I had an image of the lsi-15's for 60% off and made my way toward the tweeter on a mission... Well of course it was too good to be true, the last lsi 15's (floor model) were sold the week before for 25% off... So I sulked away sad yet pleased that I didn't miss the 50% off all remaining speakers which was advertised in the store... I will have to resign myself to the reality that if I want the lsi 15's new for under a grand I will have to wait until they are being replaced/upgraded which will not happen until 2007...

What local Tweeter? Where are you located? I would be interested in either Sonus or Vienna speakers.......

One of my local Tweeters (I have two) is closing down, too. I am located in a western suburb off of Chicago. The other one is not closing and is operating like business as usual. When I went to the closing Tweeter, I wasnt very impressed by their sale prices. Seemed to me like they jacked the prices of the LSI speakers BEFORE taking a percentage off (25%).... which turns out to be about a 15% discount from the usual prices they carry.

I didnt get to see the Sonus - maybe they sold out. I will go check again.

My tweeter was in river forest/Oak park on harlem and lake street.... I have a feeling the prices were 25% off of mfg price... The guy told me that he sold the lsi 15's for 750 per speaker WITH the discount... I said "oh that is great" thinking that crutchfield has them for 725 a speaker with free shipping... I just don't know about those salespersons...

The one in Fox Valley that used to be a United Audio store years ago? I had one of the young sales guys there tell me they raised the prices on the 15's cause they sounded too good for the price they were previously selling them for.

The price had to go up due to the US Dollar dropping in value. Costs to build and ship the speakers to the United States increase, thusly, as does the retail price.

Not quite under a grand, but the closest I have seen lately.....

LSi 15s $569 each (http://brandnamez.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=12067&lastcatid=157&step=4&AffNo=109233504)

Nice price, but a very bad reseller:

Good catch. - I just saw them listed as a place a number of people had purchased LSi speakers at. (on audioreview.com)

It looks like they don't actually stock stuff, when you place your order, they order one and then ship it to you. I could be wrong on this, but that is what it appears from the comments on reseller ratings....

Also I am pretty sure they are NOT a polk authorized shop. (could have warrantee issues.) I would probably risk it though if I wanted the 15's.

You guessed right. I ordered from them once, after calling and confirming the item was in stock. 3 days later, I call and they tell me it's on backorder for 4 weeks! Then I cancel and wait six weeks for them to refund my card, which they did only after called VISA.

AcousticSoundDesign.com is a better reseller. I call them up and ask if they have the LSI9 in stock in their hands... he says yes it is right here in front of him... I say ok, I'll pay.

He ships it out same day. I get my LSI9 for a good deal... flawless.

Nah... the other one is in Crystal Lake. Fox Valley is a little further down the drive for me... :) .

They're going to be the L&R in my new HT. The LSis are replacing the speakers I've had or fifteen years (Advent Baby IIs). Pretty big jump in price, great deal notwithstanding.

Cwaters which ATL store was it? I am about to drive there right now!

edit: While I realize that you said set this is 325 for a set of lsi9's thats 325 for 2 speakers......Not 325 per speaker? Sorry just trying to pick my jaw off the floor. Did you have to haggle with the sales guy or was that the price that was posted?

They're closed now (they had like NOTHING left when I was there).
