I ended up getting a NAD 1600. Probably a lateral move from my Adcom GTP-400, but the Adcom was having problems. So far I really like it. It is a little brighter than the Adcom. But the brightness is a good match with the silk tweet's in the Monitor 7's. The Adcom always sounded a little dark anyway.

So now I am at least content if not purely happy. Sooner or later I am going to upgrade to a tube pre-amp. But at least now I don't have to be in a hurry to upgrade.

And to round out my good week, I won a lot of 12 jazz LP's on ebay for 99 cents :) They should be here the begining of next week.

Congrats! I'm partial to NAD myself.

I also have a Adcom GTP-400 tuner/pre and GFA-535L power amp, my first "real" stereo equipment, along with a GCD-575 CD player (which the door quit opening on), but they don't see much use anymore.

My 1130 pre with the 2700's produced a warm tone, kind of suprised to see you hear the 1600 as a bright.

That 1130 is still a favorite and has seen many a club members rack.

Congrats. NAD makes some solid products. I have a C160 pre amp. It's not bright at all. I find it too warm and the bass too strong. Glad to hear the 1600 is working in your rig.
