I was in a local CC yesterday since they had all the Batman DVDs for $7.50 each.
They had a new in box HK DPR-1001 digital receiver sitting out on the floor with a clearance sticker on it for $397 or so. I had heard a lot about these digital receivers like from Panasonic, and had been curious about trying them out. With CC's generous return policy, I thought now was as good a time as any, so I picked it up for about $425 tax and all.
Hooked it up today to the pair of RT2000i and a Cambridge CD player, and guess what? It wouldn't even power up. I double checked the outlet, then gave up, unhooked it and packed it back up to return.
I've read about HK having some quality control issues lately, and now I believe it from firsthand experience. I don't think I'll ever buy another Harman product of any kind again now, especially after the runaround I've got on getting an Infinity IL60 sub fixed that went dead too.
Anyone here have one of these things that actually works? If so, how does it sound?
