This thread (http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30657) has more details along with the seller responding. He had a pair of SRS 2's that he was interested in selling too.
The SRS price seems in line based on what I've read and seen.
I contacted him through craigslist and he responded within 12 hours, so give that a try.

With them in Cali, they will probably go fast. With their condition as such, is some negotiating to be expected? I'm not interested, just shooting the breeze. This may be the bad part of this sticky. Discussing these outside sales could be valuable to our members interested in buying them but it fills up the sticky pretty quik.
EDIT: Another set of SDA's in the garage

Candyliquor-
I've spoken with Craig about his speakers. He would definitely like to get 2K for them, as they surely are worth it.
I personally am not put off by stains and such to the fabric on either the grilles or siding of 1.2's as they are easily enough replaced.
The dark marks on top may come out or at least lessen with some lemon juice.
And if that fails, well, these things are so tall I doubt many will ever notice them.
He has the IC cable.
If I didn't already own a some of these, I would be all over it.
It's funny really, all these guys are sitting around here chanting.....
1.2's...1.2's....1.2's....but for most, it will remain a pipe dream as they still cost a pile of cash, and then, they'll want to buy an amp to drive them.
But I have a really nice pair of 2.3's for sale here, which as you know,
is an outstanding speaker and a unbelievable value,
and no one is moving on them.
Whatever?

Luc,
Your 2.3's will sell in time. I couldn't believe how close my 2.3's sound to the big SRS's and at a fraction of the price. Actually I am blown away at how good they sound. I feel they really hit a home run with the 3 tweeters and the 6 drivers. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30997

You're right, I just thought some polkbro would be all over them.
I guess I just don't understand the "wait until someday" philosophy.
I buy the best I can afford now, take good care of them and if something better comes along, and I can afford it, I'll sell my first pair for about what I paid, and then upgrade. That way I'm always enjoying something, not waiting until???
SDA's are not made anymore, their numbers are finite, so,
as long as you take good care of them, they hold their value.
I'll give it until Monday, then I guess I'll post to craigslist and audiogon.
As my new tweeters will be here by Wed. and I'll need to pay for them.
all the best,
-Luc

Click on the "One-time or infrequent LTL shipper" to get a rate quote at a very good price. You can cut the cost even more if you can pick them up at their freight docks. Be aware that no one will help you load them up, so you might want to bring help.

For some reason lately quite a few have been selling for $2100 or less but the seller wouldn't tell me how much he wanted for these. If they go for anything less than 2k, then it would be a good deal on these, especially if you can pick them up locally. If you are truly looking for the 1.2TL's then expect to part with 2 large. You can wait and get the 2.3TL's for about half that, if they come up for sale.

I am stuck in the middle, I am in San Diego, which is about a 1400 mile drive either way, give or take 200 miles. It takes me about 20 hours to drive to Plano. Family is there. I see, depending on who is watching, they could go for 2200 or a bit more. They are the top dog of the SRS line, a commodity like atmoshpere has manifested on the TL's. I wonder if they are really worth twice what the original SRS's go for? Anyone?

A couple of members indicate they prefer the SRS over the 1.2's in this thread: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26945&

I am a bit surprised that the reserve hasn't been met.....this is going to be interesting..esp. if 2200 was already offered.......and the seller declined. If they sell for more than 2.2K then we can expect others are going to follow suit in selling theirs. The price is going up and up.....like gas. :D

There is nothing in that thread about upgrading the SRS crossover to a 1.2. It's simply upgrading the stock SRS crossover with better parts, but that doesn't make it a 1.2 crossover. The SRS crossover board and parts are very different than the 1.2.

The way I see it this dude came in here and took all our kind advice and thought that he could make a few more bucks and jacked the price way up there....I am glad to see that the Polk lovers of the world know better and kept it realistic as far as bidding goes. I understand capitolism and blah blah blah ,but to much is just greed. Wanna bet they get relisted or sold to the high bidder now.
They are moving. I'm certain they will be sold soon if not already. I will let someone else have these.

Send him an inquiry asking how many drivers and tweeters they have, or ask for a pic with the grille's off. If they are 1C's, they will have four drivers and two tweeters so $400 would be a fair price (based on what I've seen them sell for). If they are 2B's, they will only have two drivers and one tweeter so $400 would be high.
Based on my limited experience (seeing pictures posted here and there) the SRS 2's, 1C's and 2B's have the full length grille covers. The other 'short' SDA series have a small wood panel at the base of the speaker under the grille. His picture on craigslist is dark but it looks like the grille covers are full length.
EDIT: I photoshopped the pic and posted it here.

Just listed, no affil. New seller. GAITHERSBURG, MD.
http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1136072322
These are still available. I made an offer based on Blue Book plus the value of new tweeters. The "upgraded tweeters" are original SL3000 Tri-Lams. The seller based his ad language on the original Polk manual "new and improved Tri-Laminate tweeters". Honest mistake. Seems like a nice guy. Dummy me assumed he meant upgraded with silk domes. Thanks to Jesse for the good eye.
They appear to be in excellent shape with walnut caps. No bass brace, boxes, or spikes. He does have the manual and is the original owner. I'm withdrawing. I simply would have too much money in them after tweeter upgrades.

...isn't that around the price they have been going for?
Could be, I don't track them too often. I doubt if they'd Blue Book any higher than $1000 (just looked - $980). The 1.2tl are another story, and might be worth that price, IMO.
At $1800, you'd have nearly $2500 in them if you went with tweeter and xover upgrades. I don't have his asking price in mine with tweeter and xover upgrades.

On e-bay right now in NJ, maybe a 30 minute ride from me, if I wasn't moving to Florida and have 3 pairs of SDA's. I would be all over these, my brother is thinking about putting in a bid but if anyone in NJ/NY/PA/Con area is interested go ahead and :) bid, i will let you know as crunch time approaches.

TL, Schmee-L.
Who cares. Anyone here, with half a sense of what's gong on, is replacing tweets anyway. Update the xovers with modern offerings (cap/resis), and you're above and beyond anything the TL had to offer in the first place.
TL means nothing, in this (SDA) day and age.
Cheers,
Rooster

TL means nothing, in this (SDA) day and age.
While the new tweeters have leveled that field to a large degree and upgrading the crossovers results in a much improved speaker vs. stock, the TL still means something. The TL series have better built cabinets, the bass brace option, the AI-1 option and a more refined crossover.

Yet another of the auctions I was "watching", I am 0-2 w/ this seller now. I am watching that M-90 as well. I don't think he can take any more off now as they have bids, and less than 12 hours...

Sure they do....I just say that because the seller claims they are 1.2 and I do not see the screw in the back....
I am showing interest in these as the TL's were taken off, I have emailed the seller twice now asking him to verify that the speakers are 1.2's and not the original SRS SDA's.
Does the fact that they don't have the bass brace screw on the back definitively make them "not" 1.2's..
Anyone?
The seller has taken the liberty to not answer my request to pull out a stereo driver/dimensional driver to check...
