I am planning on picking up some R50's and R15's from Outpost, just curious which receiver some of you with a similar speaker setup have and/or might recommend. This will be my first HT system.

You should first figure out how much you want to spend on a receiver. Then go to a few chainstores as well as any specialty audio stores in your area and demo, demo demo! Make sure you take some of your own music with you that you are very familiar with.
There are tons of choices out there, only you will know what will sound the best to you.

The R series don't need alot of power to drive them. Your choices are endless. Even on a budjet, you should be able to find one that will meet all your needs.

I essentially got almost everything from fry's the store is cheaper when the sales go on. In the end Can save 50-100 bucks if you wait for the prices at fry's. They might be a little higher, but shipping is a killer on outpost.com anyway I also got an SR502 there for 200 bucks. They were clearing them out, but should still have plenty left. I have a lot of power to spare and I think it's a great start for a budget Home theater. No pre outs or too many fancy things such as auto set up and up conversion but at 200 bucks it's a great start.
Oh and I didn't get my sub or my center from fry's though...

Chris:
My plan was to get the speakers as they went on sale on Outpost, I would go to a Fry's but the closest one to me is almost 5 hours away. What center/subwoofer did you go with?

Oh that is quite a drive...
Center: CS1 though CS3 is the next choice for currently produced models
can be had for 100 or so on ebay new. I got mine for 110 shipped at hhgregg.com but it's back to regular price of 130.
Sub is a 100 dollar one from Parts express
it's ok at best, it does what it's suppose to but it's a great buy for the dollar especially for a budget system. I am going to do a diy one soon after i crawl my way through this Vance Dickenson book....

Price went up it seems because i paid that much WITH shipping.
Oh well hope it helps

Defubar (cool name btw) do you like warm sound, neutral sound or bright sound?
The R speakers tend to sound neutral/bright. If you want a more neutral/warm sound then get a receiver whose sound qualities will offset the R's bright characteristics- such as Harman Kardon (warm) Marantz (warmer) or Denon (neutral)
For me-
1. H/k
2. Denon,
3. Marantz
in that order. imo.
(edit) if you don't want a bright sounding receiver to go with neutral/bright sounding speakers then stay away from Pioneer, Onkyo, Yamaha and especially Sony.
Good luck!

I think I will probably go with a Denon AVR-885. I suppose it may be overkill for what I need for the R50's but I wouldn't mind getting some different speakers when I am done with school next year and have more money. I have not listened to this exact model yet but hopefully this week I can find one locally to audition. Thanks again for the advice.
I will buy it refurb/used/open box if I can find a good price. Already found a few places to get it if I end up liking it.

The Onkyo 502 won't be too bright for the Rs or the CS1. It maybe a bit too bright for the CSi3 center. YMMV but the CSi3 is an order of magnitude brighter than the Rs with my Onkyo. You may like the CS1 or a used CSi30 better. I'd audition as many brands as you feel comfortable returning.

I just bought the Denon AVR-885 from Ubid.com. It was a referb and I got it for a price that was under my budget by quite a bit. It hasn't arrived yet, I purchased it on friday.
Here's a link:
