Highlight I found interesting, "Here on the DVD side of a DualDisc a fan can connect with an artist and an artist can highlight a new dimension to his or her music."
So, I quess I haven't been connecting with the artists for the last 35 or so years. Damn, I feel so deprived.
"Moreover, DualDisc meets consumer demand for greater versatility and value in entertainment products while providing artists with an innovative avenue for creative expression."
I'd be happy if those record companies could figure out how to produce a quality recording on a consistent basis. It's no wonder sales are down, they've got their heads up their a$$es.
Of course, no mention of the fact that just about every major hardware supplier has issued warnings that playing a DualDisc in your unit could screw it up and is not covered under warranty.
Pffffffffffft

Eff dual disc
dualdisc is perfect for the average HTib owning MORON who thinks he's getting something for nothing instead of realizing the DICKING that the record companies have been and continue to administer to the music buying public.

Could not agree more with my esteemed colleagues, yes, going to see a true artist or band in concert who cares about the music and can actually play music is a visual you can keep to connect with when listening to the album later on.
If the music just isnt there then what else have you got except some hyped up goof ball looking artist hopping around aka Ashlee Simpson. I know we have always had those but they were one hit wonders or no hit wonders, not like today where the young ones are being force fed crap.
Give me a second disc for the dvd, most of em make nice coasters.

Note: Jesse is unconnected, oh the things I could do with that.:D

I hear Dualdisc isn't even using the 96khz and 192khz DVD-A sampling frequencies on a regular basis!!!- just plain jane 44.1khz in both 5.1 and 2-channel stereo. Screw that. DTS discs have higher sampling than that!
SACD THEN!
SACD NOW!
SACD FOREVER!!!

I'm going to buy whatever format has the best version, at the time, of what I want to hear. Why? Because I don't give one crap about who wins this format war.

yeah. as much as i like SACD- Dual Disc is better than nothing.
I'm just ready for a higher standard- from whichever camp it comes from (preferably from Sony/Phillips but if not oh well.)

Ummmm.........SACD is the higher standard and therefore the better version.
Let me correct part of my knee jerk post. One of the problems with DVD-A/DualDisc is they haven't used a resolution standard. Some might be 48 or 96 or 192 and you have no idea which. With SACD you never have to wonder, they are all the same.

Here's a little more info on DualDisc. Hi rez my arse!!!
"The DualDisc book also lays out the minimum content requirements for DualDisc, they are:
CD Side
Redbook-compatible audio
DVD Side
Entire audio contents of the CD side in stereo/mono and/or surround sound versions at an audio quality no less than that of the CD side.
At a minimum, the audio shall be in the DVD-Video zone in LPCM stereo/mono (16-bit)."
"It’s important to note that the DualDisc specifications do not mandate any high-resolution audio or a dedicated stereo track (where surround is present).
The book continues to give various examples of how the audio content can differ from disc-to-disc."
Once again.......Pfffffffft

It isn't about 2CH, sorry that you're upset. I love my 2CH rig also, but our customer base is very small compared to the sheep. You will eventually comply to whatever format exists, just like the rest of us.
It's planned obsolescence and that's what current audio is all about. If you didn't believe it, you wouldn't have a SACD player. If I didn't believe it, I wouldn't have a Universal and a SACD player. I don't lose anything, yet.
We are all fooked, after that, it just depends on your level of commitment.

I'll give that some thought because so far it isn't making a whole lot of sense.

Why would you get it? You're a hardcore SACD, 'nuff said.

+1
if you look at the back of DVD-A discs- most of them say 48khz and 16bit. I've seen DTS discs with higher resolution. If DVD_A is that bad- you know DualDIsc is not any better.
Maybe SACD is just ahead of it's time- and it's only people like us tthat are picky enough to enjoy the format.
Sad, really. When it first came out in 1999 there was so much promise.
