I have seen upgrades on CD players mentioning "opamp"
I have a mmf-cd 25. I like the sound. Is this a way to improve it.

Thanks

Patrick:rolleyes:

Nice link. I read it and I'm like this --

Can someone give us non-techies a simple definition?

Don't panic! An opamp is an "operational amplifier", no more and no less. You can think of it as an electroic unit of amplification or "gainstage" (stage of gain). Doesn't have to be a little DIP chip, either. Tube opamps were not uncommon in analog computers in the late '50's/early '60's.

You can see an example at:

I actually had one of the big brothers of this analog device for a while in the 1970's -- never quite managed to figure out how to make it do anything useful!

I think that's what Sarah used to get Mt. Pilot on the line for Andy.
