ok, I am new at this ht stuff. So here it goes. I have lsi9, lsic, and rti100(temp) powered by a yamaha rx-v2500. What do I buy next? lsi/lx or svs sub or do i need to think about a amp for the 9's and center(that darn 4 ohm thing). I have about $1000 price range.

My next purchase would be a quality two or three channel amp for the front end, followed by a sub, followed lastly by the ls/fx.
I'd consider switching the first two, depending on your use, but that's how I'd ultimately do things...

I'd sell the RTi100's for a pair of Lsi7's to wall-mount in the rear and create an awesome, high quality, timbre-matched HT system. Then I'd get an SVS or Hsu sub. (No point having an HT system without a good sub, IMO.). Third, I'd get separate amplification for at least the fronts and center. In the meantime, I'd keep the Yamaha at moderate volume levels.

Thanks, I think I will get the sub first. Just got to decide on cylinder or box. Maybe I can find a good used amp on audiogon site.

1. 5ch. amp seeing you'll eventually end up with all LSi's.
2. Sub because yes, you need a good sub long before having quality rears.
3. LSiFX's.
Done.

5ch. amp or 3ch. and use the v2500 for rears. I know this is not the right thread but used amp sug. around $700-$1000.

I would get a sub first.
Then, I would get the rears.
Then, I would get the 5channel amp to finish off the system. There are several amps that you could buy. Anthem M5 or M50, a Rotel 1075 or 1095 or an older model, Parasound.
Either way... you are on your way to even MORE toys!!

Amp first. Get those 9's off the yammie- but it can probably handle the center & eventually some f/x's just fine. Get yourself a really nice 2 channel, then come back & fill out the rest.

Amp improves the sound quite a bit. Gives you the full potential of the LSi (although the better the amp, the better the results).
However, if you are itching to finish off your speaker collection for HT, I would say sub, then rears, then amp.
If you listen to a lot of stereo music, then I would say get the amp then the sub, then the rears.

Hey man... them Sunfires are niiiice. I was seriously contemplating them when I bought a 2 channel amp.
They look like they could withstand a nuclear blast... them tanks! :D

I am 50/50(ht-music). I think i will look for a good used 5ch. I dont want to hurt the yammee. Then with money left over get a sub. Looks like i will be going over bugdet just a little..Never looked at the sunfire amps. Thanks for the info.
snakebitten...out of curiosity, where are you located?
Also be warned that the LSiFXs are pretty large. I had to give mine up because of the WAF.

Start with an amp for you LSi9's. You will be amazed at the difference a little juice makes.

I have a very nice starting point, so I think. I got my amp before I got the speakers or receiver because I knew I'd want that first and foremost. Luckily I had the money to get my sub at the same time as my speakers otherwise I would've had to wait a bit. I definitely put the sub as a very close second but I'm not giving up my amp/sound quality of the 9's. I know the sub probably should go first but knowing what my 9's sounded like off my 3805 (just to see the difference the amp made) and I'm glad I didn't keep them on the receiver. I still don't have rears and I could care less! I have my center for better dialog and a killer sub for the lows. Who cares if something is flying over your head when it's shaking your walls? ;)

I started out looking at the paradigm studio and the lsi. I was going to piece the 60's and the cc470 to start. Then I got a great deal on the 9's and lsic. It takes me a while to decide on something. My last setup I gave to my dad when he got hurt. Rti 100,csi-40,fxi sur. and onkyo 603 i believe. I wanted a better system this time. Reading thread here in the club polk had a big part in my decision. Dont get me wrong, I listen to both speakers at different stores and I know I made the right choice. I just want to do it right.
It sounds like I need an amp next. Then the sub very close behind it. I am pretty set on a svs sub but cant decide on cylinder or box.
Thanks for all the reply's. It really does help.

You initial post didn't mention that you had a sub. If you don't, then the first purchase should definitely be the sub in order to complete your HT setup. Yes, you need an amp, but a sub will yield a far greater improvement than an amp.

b&k st1430 3ch.(185watts@4ohms)
Running fronts and center off the b&k and using yamaha to power the backs.
Didnt get to tinker with the system much but it does sound very good.
Thanks again for the replys. This is a great forum!

sell the rt's, buy either lsi7 or preferably lsi fx's- and buy a 5ch. amp to mate with the Yamaha's preouts. Don't let the Yamaha drive any of the Lsi's. Those speakers deserve better.
that's a nice set up....you did well....now for the pesky source and wires to connect it all.....;)

Very nice setup!
You did very very well with your choices! Enjoy your setup.... no more upgrades or changes until later on. For now, just sit back and enjoy higher fidelity. :D
