Question About Bleaching Speaker Covers

Hey got a ? for anybody out there that might have an answer to this. I have a set of Polk Audio M series speakers for my rears. There white and have white covers. Now my question is the covers are kinda dirty but the speaker is shiny white and clean. The speaker cover is made of White plastic and then the white cloth stuff covers the plastic then get put over the speaker. Well how could i get those things white again without hurting them. I thought about using 1 part water and 1 part bleach in a spray bottle and spraying them but i just want to make sure that its not gonna hurt the cover of them, or like melt the Plastic for some dumb reason. Does anybody consider this a good thought to try? Or does anybody have any other advise that i might want to use instead. I figured id ask before i went and seen what the results might be. Any help would be appreciated.

If the backing of the fabric is plastic, why not just try dunking it in the tub with some detergent and try very lightly scrubbing them to clean them up a bit.

I can't imagine that they're THAT dirty that you would need to bleach them, but who knows.

The only potential problem I see is if you leave them immersed in the water too long and the glue starts to come undone.......

Try that Oxi-Clean stuff. I heard it will remove stains and dirt without hurting the fabric. Bleach may be too harsh. Hope this helped.

Yep, it works very well on most any type fabric.

Ok cool yeah ill give that oxi clean thing a try see what happens. And the reason i decided to use bleach with water is that i could just dunk it real fast and then walk away. But it sounds like the oxi clean thing might do very well. Ill give it a shot and keep in contact ill let you guys know what the results are. I know there not extremely dirty but you can definitly tell there dirty. They were used inside and i think just over time dirty hands and dust started to accumulate on them. If anybody has any other ideas feel free to post always like the advise. Again ill repost let you guys know what happens. I think if im careful enough it will work great.

A few months ago I had the same problem. Today they are clean with no signs of any damage.

I took the white covers off and sprayed Shout laundry cleaner all over them, so if the color changed, they would match. After half an hour I scrubbed them gently with a plastic brush in warm water. This had to be repeated a few times to get all the dirt off. Next I soaked them in warm water for an hour to get the remaining Shout out. After a final rinse in cold water they were hung on a clothesline. I used a single clothes-pin at one top corner so that the drips of water fell from a single point at the bottom. It took a week on the clothesline for the smell of the laundry cleaner to go away.

Domn't put bleach directly on them, it might burn right through the cloth.
