I'll be installing IM shortly, I'm looking at the window of the 15th floor at the Omni hotel in San Deigo. My phone bat was dead, I'm letting it charge back up.

Just fyi, not ignoring you guys.

Hey Russ,

The "Top of the Hyatt" is a great place to have a drink, there 40 stories above the bay. I love San Diego, one of my favorite places to visit, but I could only live there after my ship comes in, if you know what I mean. $$$!!!!!!!

Enjoy,

Dennis

Russman, welcome to SD. Beside getting drinks at Top of the Hyatt as suggested by Dennis, be sure to visit: La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shore, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Mission Beach/Pacific Beach to check out the party scenes, Gas Lamp Quarter for food and drinks.

Is Black's beach still there? If so Russ would like to visit to check out the scenery. :D

Hit the SD Zoo today, nice place, but I felt a little let down. Perhaps people just built it up too much for me, but honestly, the Fort Worth Zoo is just as good, or maybe even a little bit better. The Panda exibit alone made the visit worthwhile.

Hit Mission beach this afternoon, found 2 sand dollars and did the touristy thing of sea shell hunting. The salt air is great, I could spend the rest of the trip doing the Zen thing on the beach, and looking out into the Pacific.

Went over to Coronado yesterday, and had a seafood Cobb salad that I will NEVER forget. I don't eat salads, but I can't stop thinking about that one. Effin' GREAT.

Tonight, I'll hit the Gas Lamp (again), and plate up on something tasty. I've been drinking only locally brewed beers so far.

Cheers,
Russ

They closed it down years ago. I was there only once years ago while in college, and it happened to be on "National Nude Beach Week". There were so early twenties babes in the nude. It was great! ;)

Russman, I also recommend Rei Do Cado Brazilian Steak House, located in the Gas Lamp Quarter It's a carnovorous haven. It cost $40 per person for dinner, and the waiters come around w/rack of meats that were just cooked in the open windowed kitchen (beef, pork, lamb, ham, chicken -- 16 different kind of meats) and carve them and served them at your table - all you can eat. It is on 939 Fourth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101. (619) 702-8464; http://www.reidogado.net/index.htm

and no, I have no affiliation w/them. Just want to point out few spots in my home town for a fellow Polkie on vacation.

JT,

Years ago, my Brasilian bud went to Blacks Beach. He certainly enjoyed surfing in a brand 'nude' way... although I recall him telling me there wasnt much to look at on the day he was there.

Kingtut,

I was there during late July / early August - staying at the Westgate hotel. Beautiful view!!

What can I say, between the girls, the weather, and the over-all atmosphere - I was reminded again of why I missed the place so much. The only thing missing is some greenery.
