I have R50's as my fronts and surrounds and a Csi3 as my center. The effiency on the R50's is 89db and on the Csi3 it is 90db. So how many db volume do I need to raise the center channel if any to match the 89db R50's?

I assume you're talking about setting the levels up in your receiver. I'm not sure, but I would think you'd want to 'turn down' the center by 1db since it's more sensitive. That means it's going to be louder, so I whould think you should turn it down.

opps I misstyped I mean the R50's are 90db and the CSi3 is 89db.

Do it by ear. Going off the effeceincy rating is not an accurate way to tune the speakers as there are too many variables.

You should be able to tell pretty quickly if the center is too loud.

Get a SPL meter from Radioshack.

You can't set things by their specs. The room, placement and general envrionment will change their output and sound. Use an spl meter like this (link) (http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/spl-meter_e.html) and run a test tone through your speakers setting them all to a consistant level then go from there.

FWIW I've got my CSi3 -1 below the 50s. It's a brighter speaker than the Rs to my ears. Blends better. Set it the way it sounds best to you.

How do you like them so far?
