problem with LC265i as center channel

newbie...I ordered an LC265i for my center channel and was wondering if I could install it vertically. Horizontally, it won't fit between the studs. I am placing it under a projector screen. If there was a way, I would prefer to install it horizontally for aesthetic purposes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is there drywall already installed? Have you ever done drywall? Basically you can cut the stud and put in a header like you would for a window/ door, but it'll be a pain if you've already got the drywall in. Good luck.

Another option is to get a second one and run with 2 center channels each placed about one third to one quarter of the way in from the outer edges of the screen.

They would both be oriented up and down in that case.....

thanks for the suggestions....drywall is already up and I have two additional LC265i's already being placed on the right and left side of the projection screen. Will this affect placement of the two center channels underneath the screen? Will just one suffice?

It depends on the size of your screen whether you will be happy with one or two center channels. One will probably work but many people with projection screens are happier with 2 so the voices are not as centered on the screen.

If you put one under the screen - center it under the screen. If you use two, put one about 1/4 to 1/3 from each edge of the screen.

It shouldn't be that hard to make a small box from 2x4 and mount a single speaker in it. (make it about enclosure size) Just put the speaker in your temporary box and place the box under the center of your screen. Listen to a few movies you like and see if you are happy with the performance and sound.

You should be able to make it out of a couple 8' 2x4 and a single sheet of drywall. Total cost should be less than $10.00 so it would be a cheap enough test before you start cutting holes in your wall.
