He's quite the businessman. I've seen interviews of him and he seems to have a good grip on what's going on.
As for his name changes..rather annoying. I can see it now. "The 'P' was getting between me and my fans, so I changed it to just Diddy..then I realized people missed the 'P', but didn't want it to get in the way, so now I'm Diddy P" This was shortly before he changed his name, yet again to "Diddy P Daddy Puffy Honey Combs Finklestein Joe Agnus Moorehead III" His fans just call him Wagner now.

whatever keeps you in the spotlight.
he usually is up on what is going on for being in the rap business.

really... he's most likely one of the best businessmen in it besides like Russel Simmons or even Sean Carter (Jay-Z).

let the haters hate i guess...
lol

I'm in no way a fan of him or Jay-Z... you have to respect the other one mentioned though.

Hate him? Thats strong words for someone you've never met - who's image or persona you see is only there for the cameras. As mentioned before, he is a great businessmen. I may not be his target consumer nor have I knowingly supplied him with any cash - but the man works incredibly hard and is gifted in terms of business.

As Swerve mentioned, 'let the haters, hate'.

I also am one of those who really can't stand this guy. He may be a good businessman, but that doesn't mean I have to like him.

Every time I start bashing this guy or someone like him, I get the same "He's smart, he's a good businessman" response - like being smart of being a good businessman is something special or grants someone immunity from my taunting and dislike. ****, the world has seen thousands of good businessmen and plenty of smart people, it's not like some miracle or something because this guy can effectively run a business - people do that every day...Hell I bet Jimmy Hoffa was a good bueinessman, but that doesn't mean I gotta like him...

I couldnt care less if hes a good business man. The guys at Enron were probably pretty good too along with half the crooks on Wall Street.

Another thing that I HATE, yes I HATE, is how he has no talent of his own so he has to keep showing up in all his "protoge's" videos dancing around.

Yup, I sure do HATE this guy. HATE, HATE, HATE him.

Maybe I am a bit different here. My angst is not built particulary against Sean. While I care nothing for his antics, ramblings, or anything else he does in life that earns his acclaim - I care more that enough people soak this crap up to allow such an opportunity.

Perhaps my angst (not hate, just angst) is against those teeny bopper boys and girls, or sad adults still attempting to hang on to something 'fresh' and 'cool'.

WTF? Damn. What did Sean Combs do to you all? You hate him? I wonder why he is really hated so bad around here? Hmmmm. Oh well, he will probably never find out, let alone give a damn about what people think of him. I think its a little bit extreme to "hate" someone you don't know, and who has never done anything to you personally. Oh well, to each his own......

Just because you don't listen to a certain type of music, is no reason to hate someone.
Just because you don't like what a person does is no reason to hate him and you don't know anything about him.
As far as jumping around like a "monkey" goes, that was not funny and kind of offended me personally. I don't listen to certain types of music, but the people that make that music have never done anything to me, so why should I hate them? I don't like some of the things G.W. Bush has done while in office, but do I hate him? Of course not. If I offended anyone, I didn't mean to, just saying my part.

beardog03
08-26-2005, 01:32 AM
I don`t give him enough thought to hate him, I`m just not impressed...

he seems like a cool enough guy, just don`t think he`s worth waistin my time thinkin about what his new name should be or why somebody would care if he changed his name...
seems full of himself thinkin anybody gives a crap what he calls himself, that`s all

only thing that I know about him is he was hooked up with another no talent skank that has a stupid name, and is soo full of herself that I have no desire to pay any attention to what she`s doin either ...

That`s awl..!!

Landry, I'll address two of your points and then move on...

I think its a little bit extreme to "hate" someone you don't know, and who has never done anything to you personally. Oh well, to each his own......I don't/didn't know Adolph Hitler, and he never did anything to me personally - but I'm pretty sure I hate him. A fair comparison between P Diddy and Hitler? Of course not, but it proves my point that you can hate someone without knowing them. I think people like him are destroying music, music is something I love very much and was a big part of my life for many years. So, destroying a big part of my life and something that I love = I hate him. Now one could argue the 'destroying music' part, but it doesn't matter because that's how I see and my feelings are going to be based on my perceptions.

As far as jumping around like a "monkey" goes, that was not funny and kind of offended me personally. As far as the monkey statement goes, please tell me you're not playing the race card here? If you are, then I won't respond to such lunacy. If you're not and were just offended because you like this type of music, then you need to relax up a little bit, getting offended at little crap like that on an online board, you're going to have a heart attack...

landry_p2000
08-26-2005, 09:34 AM
First of all, Sean Combs did not slaughter millions of innocent people, and if you hate him that's cool, and that is your opinion. I just feel that "hate" is a strong word to use. Next, my father was a Disc Jockey for years in nightclubs all over Chicago, so music is a big part of my life as well. I am not playing any "race" card. I am just doing like you and stating my feelings on what I read. Further more, I am in very good shape, so a heart attack is something that is not on my mind. Why is it okay for you to say you "hate" a guy for getting what he worked for all his life? As far as "rap" being crap, it is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I think that some of the artist that make certain types of so called music are putting out garbage, but I don't have a reason to hate them. If you don't like rap, so what, that is fine. But, I do and I just get tired of reading post after post of people down rating the music that I enjoy, but that is a right that we all have, so have at it. But remember this, you can't stop me from posting what I feel either. I am not a person that likes to start a big argument about something as simple as this, just stating my feelings. So now what?

First of all, Sean Combs did not slaughter millions of innocent peopleDid you see the part in my post where I said that wasn't a fair comparison? I know it's in there, because I was here when I typed it. I was just using an extreme to illustrate my point that one can, in fact, hate someone without knowing them.

Why is it okay for you to say you "hate" a guy for getting what he worked for all his life?I'm looking through my posts, and I can't seem to find where I said I hate this guy for getting what he worked hard for, but my vision is a bit blurry this morning, maybe you can point that out to me.

As far as "rap" being crap, it is your opinion and you are entitled to it.Hmmm, can't seem to find that one either...maybe you can help me out here as well?

But remember this, you can't stop me from posting what I feel either.I never said I wanted to do this. If everyone I didn't agree with just stopped posting their thoughts, then I'd just be on here by myself and that wouldn't be any fun

So now what?I don't know. I think I'm gonna go dig out my Nemesis CD, hop in the car, and drive around with my windows down and play 'Munchies for Your bass' at 105db - which is really gonna suck because I've just got the stock radio and speakers in the 4Runner right now :D  :D

I do not like the fact that there are so many "hoodlums" making "music" that is affecting our youth.
They do songs about treating women like crap and have as many babies as you can. Like it somehow proves you are a man if you have more kids than you could possibly afford.
I don't like the kids to hear celebrities sing song after song about killing and dealing drugs to get ahead.
Every new rapper has to have some gang affiliation or deal dope or carry a gun to have any "street cred" so they tell it in their songs. This gets the kids to bring guns to school so they can protect their dope and money while they knock up their hoe's.
These are some of the subjects I hear when I tune into the local "hip-hop" station and it really pisses me off.
Look at my goodies, my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. WTF. I do not want my girl to have this mentality when she gets old enough to have goodies.
I do not want her to come home pregnant or the boy to knock up his girlfriend.

The real suck part is...... I listen to alot of this kind of music.
I like the old school Ice Cube, Too Short, Tupak and even some of the new crap that is out there but I do not want my kids to listen and learn from them.

I have never bought any music from this puff guy because I heard enough about him on the news to know I do not give 2 turds to have any of my music money reach his pocket.

I guess thats all, just my own opnion.

4. Good choice of "rap crap" to listen to for high decibel out put. Makes me proud. :D1. Fair enough. You don't think it's okay to hate a guy without knowing him. You made a very general statement "I think its a little bit extreme to "hate" someone you don't know". I used a very extreme example to state my case, that it is possible to hate someone without knowing them. When you speak in generalities and absolutes, as you did above, you open yourself up to someone such as myself using an extreme example to dispute those statements.

2. Two things:

a. You stated in your second post, which was clearly directed at ME, "As far as "rap" being crap, it is your opinion and you are entitled to it". At this point, you're telling me what my opinion is, you're putting words in my mouth. I called you on it and asked you to show me where I said that, you failed to do that. You can argue that this post directed at the whole group (and I'd buy that with your first post), but this post was directed solely at me, and you made a general statement that was/is inaccurate. My goal was only to correct your mis-statement so that people don't automatically assume that I hate rap music, which I hate done successfully.

b. You said I hated him "for getting what he worked for all his life". That is incorrect. Do I hate his music and his image, yes. But I don't hate him "for GETTING what he worked for all his life" - I hate him for what he produces and 'how he is', but not because he got what he worked for. Those are two very different things. You may see it as somantics, but hating a guy for what he does and hating a guy because he's successful are two very different things.

3. Yep, good stuff...

I feel what Skynut is saying, but it all come from the home raising and upbringing we endure as a child. I grew up watching movies like New Jack City, Menace II Society, and Boyz-N-The Hood, and I wanted the money and the power that Nino Brown had, but I knew that if I went out and sold drugs, my mom would bust my head to the white meat! My kids love rap music, and videos. Hell they watch them daily after they finish the homework and chores they have. They also know better than to do what the song says is "cool".

Not really trying to blame it all on the "artist", obviously this country has a big problem with "parents" not parenting.
I am only saying that some kids are trying to mimic the acts of the musicians because they have the misconception that it is the cool thing to do.
When so many preformers are saying how cool it is to be in a gang and how rich they are getting selling dope some kids try to do the same.
Not all kids are raised not knowing right from wrong, some parents actually get involved and raise their children.
Some people on the otherhand have bunches of kids, do not raise them, do not spend time with them and do not contribute financially to their well being. These are the kids that actually join gangs, carry guns, sell dope, and kill innocent people in their fits of rage over stupid insignificant crap.

Just my opnion also, we all have them and so on and so on. ;)

I heard MTV broke out of Floyd playing together for the first time in many years at that Live 8 (whatever it was called) to show some hip-hop..

Hell yes, I'm offended. Gas is up, morale is down, George might be out of work, Russ likes gubment cheese, Diddy lost a letter, Hootie still has a job, I need a full HT revamp, I miss working at Tweeter, everybody types too much..and while my investments are up..my stock of beer is going down :D

This thread has 60+ replies from people that do not care anything at all about this clown...

This is why he did what he did. For people that dont like him, people that do like him, and people that could care less to talk about his name change. Good or bad.

I can't believe you folks turned this into this... amazing.

Hook... Line... Sinker... Maybe he really IS a brilliant business man!

It doesnt take a genius to be talked about in forums. We talk a lot about Bose on here dont we??? I also remember a while back an entire thread devoted to Ashlee Simpson. She a genius too?

Yes, we're all hype suckers. Haven't you seen the SVS following? Yes, I plan on owning an SVS soon..as I'm a hype sucker. :D

He is a brilliant businessman. Any publicity is good publicity. I think we all know why he did it. Did we get his name's' out there? Yes. But did we do it because we lack the knowledge of his plan..I doubt it. Most of us aren't true suckers. Just because he did it with the intent of publicity doesn't mean we should all ignore his stunts. This is the net. Good or bad, we discuss it. If we sell a few of his records, fine..if we keep a few sales from happening..fine. This is an entertaining thread. Some have laughed, all have cried. It's the nature of the beast...

Hey Sid, when can I swing up and check out the SVS hype?? :D

Anyday...

Infact, a guy from NYC (holy crap) is coming Sunday morning to get his DT/B&K/Onix/SVS demo on...

Your welcome to stop by as well for 30 mins to an hour if ya want ;)

Mac, anytime we talk about something/someone - it is press, and any press is good press! ;)
