I am getting tired of having to change DVD's all the time and am considering getting a 300+ changer. I have a seperate CD player so I am not worried about the ability to play CD's, SACD's, etc.

I have an HDTV (720p native) and I will be using component video so I am not worried about upconversion as the TV will take care of it anyway since it is not DVI or HDMI.

Any recommendations? I was thinking of maybe going with the Sony DVP-777ES. It has been awhile since I bought a DVD player (HD is new) so I am really not up on what is best and what the various trade offs are...

The 777ES is the best mega Sony has to offer. much better quality than the lower line changers from Sony. The mega changer with the best picture is the Kenwood Sovereign DV5900M. It is the only big changer to use the Faroudja line doubler, which could be important if you want your player to descale instead of your receiver,TV, or projector. The downside of this model is that Kenwood has just pulled totally out of home audio/video, so these units are the last of the line, and pricing has gone up about a third in the past month, and service could be a crap shoot.

I have been considering both models and don't really know which direction I might end up going myself.

The 777es has outstanding picture quality and you get SACD as a bonus. I'm considering it myself. I have installed it a few times and it made me smile.
