That's a pretty nice setup...... welcome to the forum...
For DVD's you could also go Denon, and get what your budget dictates...you can't go wrong with that...

If you have a large DVD collection the new Sony DVP-CX995V 400 disc changer is a good buy. Its a 400 disc upconversion changer. Has "selectable 480p/720p/1080i output via HDMI digital interface (separate adapter available for TVs with DVI input)"
Since your projectors native resolution is 1280 x 720 the upconversion should look fantastic.

Sony has a couple new upconverting DVD players coming out. Might want to wait for reviews on those (sorry, don't remember the model numbers off hand). Just a suggestion for a budget minded DVD player.

DAMMIT! I needed to wait one more year as I just got the 985V last year as a Cmas gift!
I at least need to know how much of a difference in PQ I could expect with the upconversion upgrade - any comments from those who have seen?

From what i have heard its considerable. Its supposedly been compared to watching SD cable then watching HD cable. I will be getting one myself eventually within the next month or so. I am curious to see the diff between my current Sony changer and the new one myself.

Perhaps, but then I'm also wondering how much of an improvement (if any)upconversion will make if certain DVD's aren't mastered well to begin with.
In addition, could upconversion also "enhance the flaws" of even well-mastered DVD's? Just thinking out loud here.

Go Denon and don't look back. Tiny flaws created by DVD players will no longer be tiny on your large projected image. Many DVD players look great on TV's in the 32" and under size range, but when the picture gets big, you'll notice flaws that you never knew existed.
