They will be driving polk rti70's and a csi40. The preamp is HK 235 reciever. What would match better? Is one's quality better than the other? Thanks guys

I have Outlaw M200's driving my RTi70's and two CSi40 centers. These amps are excellent for HT, lot's of power reserve and they don't put off a lot of heat. I have an Adcom 7605 (125w x 5) in the bedroom HT and it is also a very nice sounding amp. I don't think my ears are capable of determining a difference. I know with the M200's I get really good sound dynamics for my HT.

Speaking for the Adcoms, they go really good with an H/K as a pre-amp.

The outlaw monoblocks would be just as nice, perhaps even more so- but for the money a used Adcom is very tough to beat.

Out of curiosity, how much of a sound difference would it be adding the amp vs just using the HK receiver? What is expected with adding an amp?

Sorry, don't mean to hi-jack your thread, dagame.

no problem h4ma. Hey Racer, I am interested as long as the price is not too high. If you could find out for me I would appreciate it. There was 2 on audiogon, but 1 was too expensive and the other guy lives close to me which would save on shipping, but I have been unable to get in touch with him as of yet.

You do lose some of that H/K warmth for neutrality when Adcoms become a part of the equation. Although I like warm sound better than neutral, and despise bright sound, I would say the Adcoms make a noticeable but not a huge improvement with my small speaker setup. IF you have larger speakers in your system, then the improvement will become more obvious. The Adcoms i use could easily drive Rti10's, Csi5's, Fxi5's and Lsi7's & 9's- so they're not working too hard for my rti4's and co. If you can get a good deal on the Adcom, then it's worth it. If not- don't bother.

Racer...do you know if that Adcom is still available? I am looking at adding some seperate amplification right now and that might just fill the bill.

I'd personally choose the Outlaw over the Adcom, but that's just me...

hey racer, i did not, but Im going to end up w/ some outlaw monoblocks later. I have decided to take only my mains to grad school due to space restrictions, so I have no longer have use for a 3 channel amp. Thanks for the help though! I am sure someone will enjoy it.
